Overview

We are currently seeking a dynamic Senior Applications Chemist to join our fantastic team in supporting HRMS instrument sales in Europe. In the Waters European Demonstration Laboratory our aim is to provide a critical contribution to business growth by developing a keen understanding of our customers scientific challenges and providing solutions through our industry leading LC MS platforms.

Based within our state-of-the-art demonstration facility, Wilmlsow, UK, this is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment using your expertise in HRMS instrumentation, applying this across a wide range of applications and sales support activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, personable scientist who will bring their extensive experience in the LCMS area, to provide sample analysis and demonstrations to facilitate our customers critical decisions over their next technology move. With plenty and frequent opportunity for internal and external collaboration the role is rewarding, varied, and advantaged by a broad and supportive network which ranges from Sales to Marketing, R&D to Product Development and beyond.

There is an opportunity to travel for pre-sales support, attending relevant scientific meetings and marketing events within Europe.

The position is based at our purpose-built state of the art Wilmslow site which offers facilities such as onsite restaurant and gym.

Responsibilities

  • To undertake instrument demonstrations and sample analysis in the Laboratory as part of the instrument sales process.
  • Provide scientific leadership and support to promote and further develop expertise within the Applications Laboratory and sales / marketing organisation.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer's scientific objectives through collaboration, while maintaining an awareness of industry trends to guide the evolution of demo strategy.
  • Support key new technology introductions into the team and lead demonstration to the field organisation and our customers.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and support the EMEA marketing plan as a subject matter expert. Lead analytical projects with minimal direction.
  • To represent the Company in both digital marketing activities and external meetings to provide a source of technical expertise, supporting company products and applications.

Qualifications

What will make you a successful Principal Applications Chemist at Waters:

  • A BSc Degree (or higher) in a Life Science discipline and/or extensive industrial / academic experience
  • Significant experience in LC coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry for small molecule qualitative applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting scientific material to a varied audience
  • Experience of working collaboratively with others to achieve a shared goal
  • Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
