Overview
This Principal Scientist is responsible for aiding future growth for Waters Mass Spectrometry products, at the heart of Boston's scientific community in our Cambridge Immerse Lab. In this role you will develop relationships with key collaborators and thought leaders, working with them on cutting edge methods and applications with novel technology and managing the communication of this work to the broader scientific community. You will also be responsible for providing scientific contributions which meaningfully impact product development and business outcomes, and positions Waters as the leading specialty measurement company. This includes developing new science, technologies, methods and practices, as well as generation and presentation of scientific content using Waters product portfolio to support business activities and new product development.

Responsibilities
- Independently create, manage and nurture external relationships and collaborations, driving the publication of peer reviewed content
- Has developed market and competitive awareness.
- Engage and support customers to understand trends in the relevant market and technology segments.
- Independently analyzes and interprets data and results.
- Will be required to work autonomously and be adept at problem solving.
- Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting prototype instrumentation.
- Interacts and works routinely with groups outside Scientific Operations, specifically marketing.
- Contributes to scientific methods and policies.
- Develop design of experiments independently and assists others.
- Identify and improve existing processes and workflows with a solution focus.
- Produces data, results and collateral for marketing literature and product launches.
Qualifications
- Degree in relevant scientific discipline, a higher degree is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience sufficient to advance the scientific field and analytical technology.
- Biological mass spectrometry (large molecule) experience.
- Nano-electrospray ionisation experience.
- Native mass spectrometry experience.
- Working with a mass spectrometry product development environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Travel will be required.
