Warner Bros. Discovery Sports represents WBD's portfolio of sports brands, channels and platforms. It collectively reaches 130 million people every month, engaging fans and broad audiences in more than 200 markets and in over 20 languages across all platforms where consumers are spending time -free-to-air TV, pay-TV, streaming, online and social.
This includes the much-loved consumer brands Eurosport, TNT Sports, Global Cycling Network (GCN), Global Mountain Bike Network (GMBN) and Golf Digest, as well sports programming and content on discovery+, Max and Warner Bros. Discovery's free-to-air TV networks.
Your New Role...
As Sports Director for WBD Sports in Norway, you will be responsible for leading the content & production strategy for key sports rights across all platforms, including linear and streaming services such as Discovery+ and Max.
Placing the consumer and fans first, the Sports Director must drive the editorial ambition to enhance the emotional connection with existing and incremental audience within live sports and support programming. You will be responsible for driving efficient content production and identifying new methods and ways of working as our content offering grows within the Norwegian market.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Lead the planning and delivery of the WBD Sports production, content and editorial strategy in Norway
- Deliver upon KPIs, provided by the Nordic and Internal WBD Sports teams, managing the production budgets for Norway
- Act as the central contact for all multiplatform content and production matters in respective market, leading a team of 7 in Norway.
- Drive content that attracts and retains subscribers on WBD's DTC platforms, including Discovery+ and Max.
- Act as the link between senior content & production WBD Sports management and the local/regional management teams
- Represent Norway and the Nordic region in all discussions on multiplatform content strategy, content investments and content exploitation.
- Represent digital initiatives to drive change together with local/regional management teams.
- Leverage live sports production to all revenue models, driving event-based production to enhance the DTC experience while maintaining standard of excellence for traditional platforms.
- Recruit, manage and coach talent and commentators to meet the editorial expectations.
- Development and implementation of commercial opportunities, close ongoing cooperation with product, technical, analytics, commercial, affiliate, marketing, social and customer acquisition teams
Qualifications and Experience...
- Extensive experience in TV Production with a demontrated passion for sports content
- Experience in leading a team that operates in an international event production environment plus knowledge of the Norwegian market
- Successful track record in driving an editorial narrative that drives engagement across all platforms
- Strong problem-solving approach and strategic thinking needed.
- Strong communication skills required. Ability to manage internal stakeholders and interact with personnel of all levels whether staff, freelance or locally sourced.
- Forward thinking mindset to adapt and drive an agile digital environment
