The Job
Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO) is looking for a VP of Visual Effects to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, capable of pivoting when necessary, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities. The candidate should intuitively understand and appreciate right-sizing budgets and customizing approaches to visual effects. They will oversee visual effects on HBO and HBO Max shows, work closely with the SVP of VFX, post-production production and creative executives to establish the needs for each show.

The Daily
- Working with Production teams, Studio Executives, and Finance during development, pre-production, production, and post
- Collaborating with filmmakers on the creative vision relating to VFX.
- Analyzing scripts, producing VFX breakdowns & budgets, plus production and post-production planning.
- Providing recommendations and feedback on VFX scope of work and feasibility.
- Manage VFX delivery progress and cost report tracking, working closely with the VFX Producer to anticipate and troubleshoot schedule and budget issues.
- Establish overall workflow, approval process and reporting structure from the productions to HBO/Max.
- Work with the VFX Supervisor and VFX Producer, reviewing VFX finals, Work in progress, and concepts to ensure the highest quality of work is being delivered. Review VFX with HBO/Max creatives.
- Help identify and interview VFX supervisors, producers, and artists to staff our shows.
- Work with finance to stay current on VFX incentives in various states and countries.
- Help track VFX vendors worldwide in terms of their capacity, their talent pool, and recent credits
- Research and network with new businesses and new talent. Track talent availability.
- Help continue the development and maintenance of external and internal reporting systems
- Research and keep informed on emerging technologies.
The Essentials
- Must have 10 or more years of experience working as a VFX Producer on feature films and/or television series with a significant volume and variety of VFX, or 10 years combined working on productions or in-house at a studio, vendor, or streaming platform
- Must have a solid technical understanding of the visual effects process, including pre-Viz, post-Viz, and emerging technologies
- Must have experience with productions in both the US and the UK, and have a deep knowledge of the VFX vendors and artists throughout the world
- Shotgrid (Flow) experience a plus
- A passion for all things VFX, including new technology and continued learning
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $172,200.00 - $319,800.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
