Your New Role...
CNN's Vice President of Business & Media is pivotal in defining and executing CNN's strategy to deliver distinctive, deeply reported journalism that informs, surprises and builds CNN into an authoritative source for business and media coverage. The Vice President of Business & Media will have ownership and responsibly for leading editorial direction and source-driven reporting; driving audience engagement and subscription growth across platforms, including O&O and streaming.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Set and execute an ambitious, forward-thinking editorial agenda for CNN Business & Media that reflects the highest journalistic standards.
- Evaluate current team structure and skillsets in order to pivot coverage area towards more distinctive content that will power subscriptions.
- Oversee day-to-day news operations, enterprise reporting, and breaking news across business, markets, tech, media and economy coverage.
- Manage breaking news with excellent judgment and decisiveness, ensuring that the team's alerts, headlines, television banners and social language are accurate, appropriately framed and meet editorial and legal standards.
- Ensure CNN Business consistently delivers original, high-impact journalism with a clear point of view and reporting authority.
- Foster a newsroom culture that prioritizes relationship-building and exclusive source reporting, working hand in hand with booking and talent.
- Develop strategies and training to deepen beat expertise and competitive differentiation.
- Work with editorial leaders, audience team and talent to evaluate and re-conceptualize target areas of coverage for CNN.
- Partner with Product, Audience Development, and Marketing to develop and execute a multi-platform subscription strategy, aligned with CNN's long-term business goals.
- Use audience insights and analytics to inform content strategy and optimize for reader engagement and conversion.
- Help build the brand's reach through newsletters, mobile platforms, podcasts and other innovative formats.
- Work with editors, reporters and producers to ensure that reporting is fair and complete and that text stories contain sharp framing, critical context, authoritative prose and engaging narrative.
- Development and management of team; including mentoring journalists to elevate editorial standards; actively develops creative talent and succession plans.
- Provide performance feedback loops and learnings to inform future creative content development.
- Budget responsibility and oversight.
Qualifications & Experience...
- 15+ years in digital media, journalism, or content leadership.
- 5+ years of senior leadership and direct management of multi-layered editorial teams.
- College degree in Journalism or related field; master degree preferred
- Demonstrated experience driving strategic transformation in a subscription environments
- Excellent editorial acumen
- Strong communicator and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage interdependent, matrixed stakeholder relationships
- Executive leadership and decision making
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that operates 24/7.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $199,500.00 - $370,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
