Your New Role...

The Teleprompter Operator runs teleprompter equipment during live and taped productions, ensuring smooth and accurate delivery of scripted material. They are also responsible for the setting up and maintenance of teleprompter equipment. This role is crucial for maintaining the flow and professionalism of WBD broadcasts.

Your Role Accountabilities...

LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS

  • Operate teleprompter equipment during live broadcasts, adjusting the script's flow to match the talent's pace and style.


  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of teleprompter scripts into live broadcasts.


  • Edit and format scripts as needed, making real-time adjustments for adlibs or changes in speech patterns.


  • During live broadcasts, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to avoid on-air disruptions.


  • Maintain teleprompter equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.


  • Take ownership of equipment repairs, initiating troubleshooting steps and partnering closely with Technical Operations and Engineering teams to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption to productions.


  • Assist with training new operators or production staff on teleprompter usage and best practices.


  • Stay up to date with the latest teleprompting software and technology.

COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION

  • Collaborate with talent to ensure comfort and readability of scripts, adjusting font size, scroll speed, and layout as needed.


  • Participate in pre-production meetings to understand the flow of the show and anticipate teleprompting needs.


  • Partner with directors and producers to ensure the teleprompter script aligns with the overall vision and pacing of the broadcast, making real-time adjustments as needed.


  • Maintain detailed documentation on equipment settings, troubleshooting procedures, and talent preferences to support training and ensure consistency for future broadcasts.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • 2-5 years of experience in broadcast operations, including knowledge of studio/remote television productions and operations with below-the-line technical crew.


  • Proficiency in teleprompting software (e.g., iNews, QMaster) and basic computer operations.


  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to anticipate talent's needs.


  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.


  • Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints.


  • Able to work flexible, non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays.


  • Quick problem-solving skills and ability to handle technical glitches.

Not Required but preferred experience:

  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite


  • Previous experience working with high-caliber talent a plus
