Job Title: Senior Show Production Manager - Studio Tour Shanghai

Reports to: Construction Project Director (China-based)
Location: Shanghai, China

Job Summary

The Senior Show Production Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, scheduling and execution of all show-related elements within the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Shanghai project. Incorporating approved changes and assessing potential risks.

This project is supported by two key design consultancies: Tait and Lumsden. Tait is responsible for the design and coordination of all show-related elements, including AV, media, special effects, and interactive installations, ensuring these components are seamlessly integrated into the overall experience. Lumsden is leading the design of Food & Beverage (F&B) and Retail areas, ensuring an immersive and high-quality guest experience in these commercial spaces. Both consultancies will play an active role during the build phase, working closely with the internal project team, contractors, and vendors to oversee the successful execution of their respective areas. The role will require close collaboration with these consultancies to ensure alignment with project schedules, construction milestones, and quality expectations.

The Show Production Manager will work in close collaboration with our appointed designers, the Design Manager and Construction Manager, ensuring that show-related components align with scenic, architectural, and construction requirements. This role requires a highly organised and proactive professional who can manage multiple stakeholders, schedules, and installation processes while maintaining the highest creative and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Show Vendor & GC Liaison

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between show vendors and the General Contractor of the Decoration Contract (GC2), ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
  • Track the construction of the Studio Tour Facilities building by the landlord (CG1) and the GC2 decoration package to ensure all show elements are properly integrated.
  • Coordinate with show vendors to ensure that all equipment deliveries, rigging points, and technical installations are aligned with GC schedules.

2. Scheduling & Coordination

  • Develop and manage the show production and installation schedule, ensuring alignment with construction and fit-out timelines.
  • Work closely with the Design Manager to ensure scenic and thematic elements accommodate all show-related components.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Manager to schedule site access for show vendors, ensuring a smooth installation process.
  • Identify and mitigate potential conflicts between show installation, scenic fit-out, and construction activities.

3. Show Equipment Installation & Integration

  • Oversee the delivery, installation, and commissioning of all show elements.
  • Responsible for the development of an overall progress chart. Monitor, evaluate and report progress, performance contracts.
  • Ensure proper cable routing, rigging, and infrastructure for all show technologies within GC2 fit out works.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or installation conflicts that arise during the production process.

4. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of show elements to ensure they meet creative, technical, and operational standards.
  • Work with the Construction and Design Managers to ensure that scenic finishes, show lighting, and media displays function cohesively.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and electrical standards for all show-related installations.
  • Review vendor mock-ups and prototypes before full-scale production to confirm quality and feasibility.

5. Budget & Procurement Oversight

  • Monitor show production budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Work with procurement teams to manage vendor contracts, material approvals, and payment milestones.
  • Manage change orders and variations, ensuring budget impact is minimised.

6. Stakeholder & Cross-Team Communication

  • Provide regular updates to senior management on show production progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure the final handover of show systems is smooth and well-documented.
  • Support on-site training and testing to ensure operational teams are fully prepared for show launch.

Collaboration with Other Managers

With the Construction Manager:

  • Align show installation with construction and fit-out milestones.
  • Ensure power, data, and infrastructure are in place before show vendor installation.
  • Coordinate site access and safety compliance for show vendors.

With the Design Manager:

  • Ensure show technology integrates seamlessly with scenic and interior elements.
  • Verify that show lighting, media displays, and AV elements align with the creative vision.
  • Resolve conflicts between aesthetic design intent and technical feasibility.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University Degrees from relevant areas of study.
  • Proven Experience: over 20 years of experience in the design and construction industry, and 8+ years show production management for similar standards of themed entertainment, museums, attractions, or immersive experiences in China.
  • Technical & Creative Expertise: Strong understanding of AV systems, show control, projection, lighting, and interactive technologies.
  • Project Coordination: Experience managing complex installations and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Construction & Fit-Out Knowledge: Familiarity with MEP, infrastructure, and GC coordination for show integration.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of China's local building and electrical codes.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, project scheduling tools (Primavera, MS Project), and AV design software.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in English and Mandarin is mandatory.
