Your New Role
The Senior Manager, Standards and Practice APAC role is responsible for leading the strategic and operational requirements for content compliance in the region. Responsibilities include advising on compliance frameworks, content review, content versioning and content certification for the APAC region.
Working with key stakeholders in Legal, the Senior Manager will support in advising on the operational requirements for new business requirements or changes to regulatory requirements; translating these into actions required to be executed by the Standards & Practices team.
The Senior Manager role will also work in close parternship with the Programme Planning leads to determine content versioning and certification requirements for new titles, as well as library titles being published in new territories. The role's responsibilities extend across all content verticals including, but not limited to, theatrical, scripted, unscripted and kids programming.
The Senior Manager role will also be responsible for managing the regional content compliance team; allocating work requirements, monitoring output to ensure they meet quality thresholds, overseeing any escalation issues and ensuring the team meet on-time publication requirements. The Senior Manager will also monitor resource requirements to ensure they meet departmental needs and strive to ensure the workflow processes operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The Senior Manager role will report up to the Senior Director of Content Compliance and Re-versioning and support that manager in terms of providing local regulatory expert input, advising on regional strategy and for any other project initiatives and requirements.
The above list of duties is not exhaustive and other requirements within the scope of the role will need to be managed as and when required.
Your Role Accountabilities
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners on compliance matters for APAC to ensure all platforms (HBO Max, Go, etc.), channels (HBO, WTV, CN, etc.), and other content
(e.g. marketing material) are compliant with local standards and practices. - Manage S&P team to achieve maximum efficiency: work assignment, schedules, training & development, goals, reviews, contracts.
- Regular review of local regulations and sensitivities in the region and how they relate to our content (e.g. recent conflicts in the region may result in takedown of content sensitive to specific markets). APAC consists of many emerging markets which are developing new media laws and regulations. The S&P manager works closely with Legal, Government Affairs and Public Policy, as well as local partners and regulatory bodies to keep track of changes and ensure compliance.
- Work with relevant teams on new projects, workflows, systems that need to be implemented for new products (e.g. HBO Max launches, Native Frame Rate project, consolidation of legacy systems, vendor/affiliate onboarding, etc.)
- With the team, review all content and ensure ratings and consumer advice are made available on time for all platforms and channels, working across various tools like iBroadcast, Landmark, Monday, Airtable, and Foundry applications.
- Manage versioning for different markets across Asia, for both streaming (HBO Max) and linear channels. Bespoke versions may need to be created for specific markets due to local sensitivities.
- Maintain documentation on ratings, edits, ban information, sensitive content etc., that could be shared with relevant cross-functional teams. E.g. CX, Merchandising, Programming team relies on our list of sensitive titles and banned content for planning.

Qualifications & Experience
- At least 10 years of experience working within the content compliance area within the media industry
- Deep understanding of regional compliance requirements
- At least 5 years of experience managing operational teams
- Relevant Degree
- Ability to work on cross functional multi-cultural teams in a collaborative way
