Your New Role...
The Senior Director, Video Editorial sets and leads editorial and creative vision for high-impact video initiatives across CNN's platforms. In this role you will manage teams who produce, shoot, and edit daily or long-form content for next-generation products with an eye towards identifying direct-to-consumer, paid experiences as well as video creation for day of or breaking news, packages, live videos and various forms of content for special programming. This is an essential leadership position that requires the highest standards for editorial and creative execution.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Collaborate and communicate closely with global teams across the organisation
- Set and steward editorial and creative vision for high-impact video initiatives across all platforms
- Oversee the development and execution of new formats, series, and initiatives aligned with audience strategy and brand priorities
- Lead a team of senior producers and producers, ensuring clarity of editorial voice, creative ambition, and team alignment
- Own cross-functional collaboration with Programming, Product, Audience Development, and Design to ensure video performs at scale
- Elevate team's editorial standards, actively develop creative talent and succession plans
- Ensure that performance feedback loops and learnings inform future creative development and distribution strategy
Qualifications & Experience...
- Demonstrable video editorial production experience, preferably within a newsroom or breaking news environment
- Proven experience of team leadership with direct people management responsibilities, plus overseeing multiple teams and/or an entire production unit or vertical
- Strong record of building and scaling video experiences or franchises
- Demonstrated point of view of editorial vision and audience instinct
- Demonstrated strategic thinking & ability to execute on strategy
- Proven ability to innovate in visual storytelling and format development
- Data fluency and performance-driven editorial planning
- Able to interpret platform-native metrics, evaluate format impact on distribution, bridge creative strategy and technical distribution expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to manage interdependent, matrixed stakeholder relationships
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
