Your New Role...

CNN is seeking an experienced investigative video journalist to join our team, responsible for pitching, developing, and executing original, video-driven investigations across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of producing impactful visual stories, utilizing advanced OSINT techniques, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring complex narratives to life. This role requires strong reporting, scripting, and video production skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and adapt quickly to breaking news developments.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Pitch, develop, and execute original investigative stories with strong video components for CNN broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
  • Report, script, and produce original visual investigations - independently and with others - developing sources, verifying facts, and uncovering new leads, with the ability to edit rough cuts or assemble visual elements as needed.
  • Produce and script narrative-driven investigative pieces. These can include field production, interviews, and found footage.
  • Conduct deep-dive OSINT research using social media, satellite imagery, public records, and digital forensic tools. Must have experience with FOIA process, geolocation, social media.
  • Collaborate with animators, editors, and data journalists to visualize complex stories.
  • Manage multiple investigative projects simultaneously, meeting both long-term and rapid-turn deadlines.
  • Proactively monitor ongoing news developments for potential investigative angles and quick-turn exclusives.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in investigative video journalism, preferably in a broadcast or digital newsroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce impactful, video-first investigations that have led to public awareness or change.
  • Strong scripting and storytelling skills, with a deep understanding of visual narrative techniques.
  • Basic video editing skills, familiarity with CNN production workflows is a plus.
  • Proficiency in OSINT methods and tools; experience in digital verification, geolocation, and metadata analysis.
  • Solid news judgment, journalistic ethics, and an unrelenting attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for reporting assignments.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $144,560.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
