Your New Role...

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Editorial & Content Strategy, the Mexico City Bureau Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the bureau's operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality news production at a major CNNE hub, effective staff management, and seamless coordination across the CNN office and the rest of the network. This person is also the CNN representative to the local WBD office.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Editorial

  • Develop daily story ideas and production strategies from the region to enhance network content.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and digital editing teams to craft compelling stories.
  • Oversee newsroom operations and promptly address any editorial issues.

Staff Management

  • Manage employee-related matters, including performance reviews, and foster a motivated and high-performing team.
  • Ensure production and newsgathering teams across linear and digital are functioning efficiently.
  • Foster a community of growth and high morale in the Mexico City bureau.

Special Events

  • Oversee the planning and execution of major event coverage in Mexico and the region, from initial coordination through to budget approval and on-site production for special assignments as needed.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Clearly communicate coverage plans and updates to both the Mexico City bureau staff and CNNe Teams.
  • Strengthen partnerships between CNNE teams in Mexico City with the wider network. Liaise with various departments and regional bureaus to ensure cohesive production and coverage efforts.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • A minimum of 7 years of editorial experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Hispanic Television.
  • Deep understanding of the Hispanic audience, including insights into the history, key events, and cultural nuances of Latin American and Hispanic communities.
  • Strong working knowledge of production and studio operations, digital platforms, and news gathering.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule dictated by the fast-paced news cycle and tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with emerging technology and digital platforms.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.
