Your New Role:
WBD is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure/End User Computer with a passion for building high performance, low latency platforms, and applications around Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and published applications. The role reports to the Senior Manager for Virtual EUC at WBD. This position will be apart of the Global Infrastructure Core Technologies team. This team is currently building technology platforms and providing services that meet world class standards for which Warner Bros. Discovery is known. We provide 24X7 engineering and operational support for various stakeholders globally.
Your Role Accountabilities:
You will be an expert in leading the daily engineering efforts of a team responsible for design, planning, implementation, integration, and support for the organization's global virtual desktop/application environment both on-premises and in the cloud.

You will help lead projects and people with a deep focus on delivering stable and scalable enterprise-wide VDI/published app platforms which operate efficiently to meet user and business needs. This role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle of VDI and app systems including provisioning, patching, and upgrading the Omnissa Horizon components and other related VDI applications/toolsets. Additionally, the role requires similar efforts for Citrix Virtual Apps platform and related components and related apps tools.
You will document solutions ensuring that best practices are followed and update stakeholders related to system changes. You will partner with peers and management staff on capacity planning analysis and monitoring methodologies. This position involves support of EUC technologies and end-users across various Warner Bros. Discovery locations across the globe.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of our on-premises and cloud based EUC platforms. You will lead strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will improve application performance, availability, and reliability. Our Lead Engineer will collaborate with the staff to innovate and build EUC solutions, providing, and enhancing existing VDI solutions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in virtual end user compute technology, leadership, training, and support to provide an optimal position for success.
Technical Scope:
Design and architect VDI/EUC environments, including Omnissa Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop plus Citrix. Considering resource selection, virtual machine configurations, storage, and networking.
Implement and configure VDI/EUC solutions, including provisioning virtual desktops, hosting applications, and managing App Volumes
Optimize VDI/EUC performance for scalability, cost effectiveness, and reliability, providing technical support and troubleshooting for user issues
Support configuration management tooling such as Chef and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
Project responsibilities
Collaborate with all business and technical stakeholders, end users, and project management team providing advice and assistance to coordinate and operationalize the integration strategic, and operations plans for innovative VI technologies, methodologies, and processes.
Participate in developing a strategic roadmap for the advancement of VDI/EUC technologies and processes for ongoing projects and improvements.
Function as a mentor for the engineering team and the Global Technical Operations Center when engaged in troubleshooting VDI/EUC platform, operating system images, and desktop related applications
Communication
• Create and deliver presentations to stakeholders, and senior leadership as needed.
Qualifications & Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field or equivalent relevant work experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in technology
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Experience with virtual desktop platforms including Omnissa Horizon - App Volumes, UAG, FSLogix, Ivanti User Workspace Manager, and Azure VDI.
- Experience with virtual application platforms: i.e., Citrix Virtual App - NetScaler, Gateway, Storefront, FAS, VDA, broker
- Citrix Cloud and Omnissa Horizon Cloud Service experience
- Automation - Chef and Ansible for OS and application management
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi and AWS EC2) preferred
