Your New Role...
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a dedicated LATAM Payroll Analyst to join the Global Business Services People and Culture Shared Services Payroll Department. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for administering payroll for Mexico, Panama and Colombia employees, ensuring the accrual for all the types of process, conducting payroll audits, and implementing best practices in payroll processes.
The role requires expertise in managing payroll-related processes such as hiring, terminations, and employee changes. It also involves accurate handling of payroll incidents, including leaves of absence and absenteeism, as well as variable payments like overtime and holiday pay. A strong understanding of regulatory compliance, alignment with local authorities, and solid knowledge of financial provisions and accrual controls is essential to ensure accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate brings experience in managing high-volume, multi-state, and international payroll operations, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance across various jurisdictions, including Latin American countries. They are proficient in handling expatriate employee payroll and ensuring full compliance with social security, tax obligations and external providers throughout the end-to-end payroll process.
The Analyst will play a key role in compiling, analyzing, and documenting issues related to payroll and associated activities.
Responsibilities also include researching and responding to payroll inquiries, supporting internal audits, and preparing materials for external and internal auditors. Your Role Accountabilities...
- Conduct payroll activities, analyze and interpret pay rules utilizing the work papers to report the incidences, validated whit our providers for each country.
- Validate data for new hires, changes and terminated employees shared by other areas, and for periodic payrolls ensure all the data needed to calculate the payrolls.
- Adjusting time entries, pay inputs, or payroll costing allocations.
- Calculating Pay for union employees according to collective bargaining agreements, and all employees according to company policy and legislative requirements.
- Processing special pay requests for relocation, severance, leave of absence, and paid time off.
- Calculating additional payroll-related items, including garnishments, adjustments, pension, etc.
- Resolving any issues with taxes, imputed income, or benefit deductions.
- Initiating pay runs, monitor and audit payrolls.
- Calculating and entering retroactive pay changes.
- Exporting data from OTA for processing in Workday Payroll.
- Research payroll inconsistencies and irregularities to determine root cause and provide resolution.
- Work with cross functional counterparts to understand and resolve issues.
- Become a payroll subject matter expertise to resolve employee issues swiftly and efficiently.
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with process partners and/or other points of escalation to provide research and information to resolve issues.
- Follow and maintain internal control policies, procedures, and compliance with respect to the payroll process.
- Assist with month-end closing and general ledger integration queries to the financial system. Prepare journal entries for SAP financial system.
- Calculate pay for non-union employees based on company policies and legislative requirements and union employees according to collective bargaining agreements.
- Resolve complicated inquiries such as payroll taxes, imputed income, or benefit deductions.
- Ability to understand and evaluate reports utilizing Excel functionality (vlookups, index match, pivot tables).
- Process invoices though Ariba and SAP systems.
- Participate in testing of payroll system related to process changes and enhancements.
- Support leadership with other projects and tasks as required.
Qualifications & Experience...
- Experience
- Minimum 3 years of payroll, finance or within México required
- Understanding of regulations related to salaries, taxes, benefits for Mexico payroll related matters required
- Experience managing a third-party payroll vendor(s)
- Payroll operations whit more than 1000 HC of employees for Mexico, managing sensitive and confidential information is required. Experience large multi-business unit organization. Plus experience in Colombia, Panama or other LATAM County.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent combination of work experience required.
- Language Requirements: Spanish / English intermediate (in course).
- Technical Skills: Experience with Workday HR/payroll or other SaaS payroll tools required (SAP or PeopleSoft) with payroll integration and mass data loads (EIB) preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft is required, particularly with MS Excel advanced.
- Process Management: Understanding of Mexican federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll related matters required. Skilled in process management, improvements, and re-engineering.
