Business Overview

Warner Bros International Television Production Sweden is a creative, talent-driven production company that develops, produces and distributes content in multiple genres including reality, factual, documentaries and entertainment. The company delivers original programs to both the public broadcasters, commercial channels and international streamers and has a long track record in adapting international formats for the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian market.

About The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Development is a key member of the WBITVP management team and will have overall responsibility developing new formats, adapting Warner Bros. formats and creating business through sales to clients. Sweden is the primary focus, but we also operate in Denmark and Norway.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and well-rounded TV-producer or former high-level developer, with a proven track record and hands on attitude. They will have strong interpersonal skills and will be able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the Warner Bros. organisation.

They will be responsible for building on Warner Bros. Sweden's current slate of non-scripted programming, both formats and original development, responsible for developing, pitching and selling new IP, implementing the Warner Bros. catalogue in the Scandinavian market, the acquisition of third-party formats and the streamer strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the development, production and delivery of non-scripted output, primarily for Scandinavian broadcasters and streaming services
  • Working across all non-scripted genres - from observational documentaries to factual entertainment and reality
  • Maintaining contact with the channels and other clients
  • Maintain contact with key talent
  • Building on Warner Bros. Sweden's impressive slate of existing series by developing, pitching and securing new series commissions. Closing deals is key
  • Following and knowing current developments in the TV and online market
  • Overall responsibility for R&D
  • Chairman of weekly creative meeting (agenda management, strategy, current affairs)
  • Attending MIPCOM
  • Prepare and attend Creative Exchanges
  • Attending third party meetings in London
  • Playing a key role in the successful continued delivery of returning series
  • Executive Producing or co-Executive Producing on high-profile new shows and first series

Your Experience

  • Knowledge of non-scripted commissioning across all broadcasters and streamers is essential
  • Relationships with the key commissioners at the major Swedish broadcasters and streamers is expected. Same relationships in Denmark and Norway are meritorious
  • A proven track record in devising and selling new programs
  • Experience in producing high-quality primetime television
  • Team management experience
