Your New Role...

The WBD Production & Technical Operations (P&TO) Hair and Makeup Department is comprised of skilled artists professionally trained in both disciplines, who play an essential role in collaborating with production partners by executing and maintaining the desired on-air and talent brand. Artists are responsible for the professional application and ongoing maintenance of hair and makeup to ensure a modern and polished appearance for on-air talent and consistent on-air continuity for our production partners. Our artists thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide expert service across all P&TO supported productions, both in studio and on location.

Artists must be able to work a flexible schedule based on programming needs of live broadcast shows which vary day to day and include working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Live/Taped Productions

  • Deliver timely and professional high-quality, on-brand makeup application and hair styling services for all on-air talent that aligns with industry trends, executive vision, audience demographics, client preferences, and studio lighting conditions.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to tailor looks to reflect the personal style of each talent while adhering to production requirements.
  • Expertly style and maintain hairstyles for all hair types, textures, and lengths using a range of techniques and tools, including blow-dry round brushing, wand irons, marcel irons, spring irons, and flat irons.
  • Foster a calm, professional, and supportive environment that helps talent feel confident, comfortable, and cared for.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain talent appearance during live segments, allowing talent to focus on their performance.
  • Build and maintain detailed makeup and hairstyling profiles for each talent to ensure consistency and client satisfaction across all networks.
  • Manage time effectively by overseeing room flow, tracking talent arrival times, and anticipating touch-up needs during live shows.
  • Takes full ownership of the client experience by anticipating needs, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and consistently exceeding expectations.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicates openly, effectively, and professionally with the Production Manager and Department Manager.
  • Collaborates closely with other artists to deliver a high-quality, consistent experience for all on-air talent.
  • Partners with the Talent Relations team to support travel-related beauty supply needs for talent.

Planning Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in the daily operations and administrative responsibilities of the hair and makeup room as delegated.
  • Maintains artist and talent kit standards to ensure consistency and preparedness.
  • Upholds sanitation protocols and contributes to overall room cleanliness and organization.
  • Monitors supply inventory and request any necessary restocks.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in makeup and hairstyling for live broadcast environments.
  • Esthetician or cosmetology license, or certified training from an accredited school/salon, preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience working with high-profile talent and having a passion for helping them look and feel their best on and off camera.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to delivering superior customer service in alignment with production vision and brand reputation.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned productions and responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills, with a balance of logical thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to perform well under the pressure of live programming and tight time constraints.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays, as production demands.
  • Willingness and availability to travel as needed.

Not Required but preferred experience...

  • Up-to-date knowledge of emerging beauty techniques, tools, and products.
  • Experience with wardrobe consulting or styling talent for on-air appearances.
