The Job

The Manager will ensure that Washington, DC photojournalists and supervisors are effectively utilizing innovative and forward-thinking approaches to technology, creativity, editorial judgment, and teamwork.

The Daily

  • Daily assignments will be coordinated with other location's managers, bureau leadership, and newsgathering and programming partners to meet the editorial, newsgathering and production needs of all of CNN's platforms
  • The Manager will also oversee vehicle usage and maintenance for all Washington, DC crew vehicles, ensure proper and efficient acquisition, maintenance, and tracking of all field production assets, maintaining an inventory control system for all Washington, DC-based Image + Sound Field Production assets at all times
  • As prescribed by the Sr. Director of Field Production, the Manager is responsible for establishing performance goals for staff, soliciting feedback on staff performance, evaluating and critiquing the work of the Photojournalists, and providing on-going feedback and annual performance reviews in accordance with Turner's Performance Review process
  • The Field Production Manager will also partner with the Sr. Manager of Field Production to address all hiring and disciplinary procedures
  • This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Field Production to ensure consistency in field production SOP's, best practices, staff development and efficient utilization throughout Image + Sound
  • The Field Production Manager is on-call 24x7 and is expected to respond to all business-related communication in a timely fashion

The Essentials
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on production experience
  • Experienced in all aspects of field and/or post production, media management, and file-based production with demonstrated high-level and creative skills in lighting, editing and photography
  • Minimum, 3 years' experience in a leadership role with direct reports managing or supervising in a media production environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, training, and staff development
  • High level organizational skills, ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-paced news environment
  • Prior experience working in a client service-oriented environment
  • Experience developing and/or managing budgets and personnel
  • Managing with metrics-based analytics
  • A proven record of group management and successful communication and collaboration

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $98,900.00 - $183,671.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
