The Walmart Energy Transformation strategy aims to decarbonize our operations while capturing emerging new value streams that help catalyze societal decarbonization.

The team now reports directly to the COO of Walmart US and the Chief Sustainability Officer.

This organization is responsible for:

Ensuring energy security, reliability, and affordability through purchasing energy and optimizing for the lowest cost in regulated and wholesale markets. Leveraging our unique assets and positioning to build value-creating businesses. And maintaining our zero emissions leadership. Walmart has recently committed to bringing 10 GW of clean energy online by 2030, in addition to our publicly stated goals of 50% clean powered by 2025, 100% clean powered by 2035, and zero emissions in our operations by 2040. In addition to new build clean energy assets, we aim to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions across our facilities, and transition our fleet to zero emissions vehicles. We also aim to build a public EV charging network to provide energy choice and affordability for our customers and local communities.

This position is responsible for:

The Senior Manager, Renewable Energy Solutions will own portfolio and performance management across a diverse range of projects and initiatives, including a rapidly growing power purchase agreement portfolio and innovative tax-equity investments that target opportunities that deliver economic value, enable emissions reductions, and enable low-cost, reliable clean energy for our communities. This role presents the opportunity to design and operate processes to oversee, maintain, and optimize Walmart's offsite renewable energy portfolio and tax equity investments portfolio to ensure they are meeting performance, contract, generation, and economic expectations, as well as leading strategic planning and reporting with cross-functional stakeholders across the business. Our focus is on sustainable and programmatic approaches to building Walmart's renewable energy businesses and this role will lead the charge. In addition, the Senior Manager, Renewable Energy Solutions will support the management of day to day and long-term strategic partnerships with renewable energy developers to secure programmatic access to renewable energy globally across Walmart's geographic footprint, facilitating and accelerating the decarbonization ambitions of Walmart.

Strategic Renewable Procurement: Assist in defining and executing a long-term global strategy to accelerate Walmart's progress toward its 100% renewable energy and zero emissions goals in a manner that delivers value to shareholders, customers, and/or associates.

Project Performance Management: Leverage experience in renewable energy to monitor and evaluate the performance of a multi-GW portfolio of offsite renewable energy projects. Guide risk management and optimization strategies internally and with third-party support. Analyze project data and contractual languages to improve and problem-solve performance.

Investment Portfolio Management: Lead management of and strategic planning for Walmart's tax equity and other equity investment portfolio, ensuring strong financial and operational outcomes. Conduct financial and operational analysis on project and portfolio level, and lead partnerships with our cross-function teams for strategic portfolio planning and reporting. Strengthen portfolio management and reporting processes to support Walmart's multi-billion-dollar capital deployment goals.

Portfolio Reporting: Conduct analysis and reporting on the success of renewable energy programs, including tracking progress towards renewable energy goals. Provide regular updates to key stakeholders and senior management on the performance of renewable energy initiatives and tax-equity investments, at the project and portfolio level.

Forecasting and Strategic Planning: Create and manage forecasts for renewable energy generation and project/investment financial performance to be used for budget management and procurement decisions. Analyze trends and make recommendations to ensure portfolio meets objectives. Interface cross-functionally with key stakeholder to inform decision-making and communicate performance.

Execution of Power Purchase Agreements and Capital Investments: Support on negotiation of long-term power purchase agreements and capital investments that align with Walmart's sustainability goals. Ensure that contracts are designed to manage project and portfolio operational risk and that the agreements contribute to the decarbonization and business goals efforts of the company.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
