Revenue Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated technical revenue expert to join our global revenue team. The Revenue Manager will represent the revenue accounting function in initiatives involving new offerings, pricing and packaging updates, hybrid cloud offerings, and other projects. This position is critical to the revenue accounting team and the company in ensuring initiatives are executed under proper accounting assessment and treatment in accordance with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers.

Primary responsibilities include providing technical revenue accounting assessment and partnering with various business units to structure their offerings that can satisfy both business and compliance requirements. In addition, you will be documenting accounting conclusions, advising on optimal operational flows to achieve proper revenue accounting outcomes, applying governance of SOX controls, and collaborating and partnering with business stakeholders. Responsibilities under this role are critical to the global revenue team and the role plays a key part to the function in execution against key company initiatives. You will be exposed to executive management across the company including providing VP of Revenue with executive level assessment readouts.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Represent revenue accounting team in providing technical accounting expertise in cross functional meetings in areas of new offerings, hybrid cloud offerings, changes to pricing and packages, resell agreements, acquisitions and any other company initiatives that trigger revenue recognition impacts;
  • Assess revenue recognition impacts for proposals for Pricing Committee reviews, providing guidance to other revenue accounting team members engaged in the processes Provide technical revenue guidance on new offerings, changes to pricing and packages of existing offerings;
  • Document accounting positions and conclusions;
  • Collaborate with broader revenue accounting team to train and knowledge share on new initiatives, offerings, and impacts to revenue accounting;
  • Present information on revenue accounting on new offerings and key initiatives at quarterly global team meetings and communicate periodic updates to the team;
  • Document end to end processes, impact to period-end and quarter-end accountings, design and implement SOX controls;
  • Participate in Product Operations meetings and provide accounting guidance and recommendations on new offerings, changes to existing offerings, and other initiatives;
  • Analyze accounting impacts and risks on proposals, prepare and present readouts to management prior to proposal being brought to Pricing Committee;
  • Lead efforts in analyzing revenue impacts on strategic company projects; interact and partner with all levels of internal customers across all levels including executive management in functions such as Pricing team, Dealdesk, Order Management, Product Operations, Product Management, M&A Finance, Legal, etc.
  • Analyze accounting impacts and risks on proposals and prepare readouts to management prior to proposal being brought to Pricing Committee;
  • Partner closely with business unit leads and finance to understand proposed strategies, business objectives of initiatives and provide input based on industry best practices while meeting company objectives and ensuring proper accounting and compliance;

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 8+ years total revenue/accounting experience in a publicly traded company
  • Knowledge of Accounting Standard ASC 606
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and experience in working with stakeholders within cross-functional and multi-country based teams
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively in order to meet deadlines, working independently and under a multi-faceted team model
  • Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions, and effectively present information across a wide level of audience within the company.

Preferred Skills:

  • CPA
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred
  • Strong writing skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
