Job Description

As an Application/Data Architect, you will be part of our dynamic team, ensuring the design and implementation of robust software applications. You will be working closely with our software development team, creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and ensuring that our applications are built using industry-standard technologies. A background in Java and machine learning would be advantageous for this role.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Design, implement, and maintain the architecture for our software applications. 

  • Collaborate with the software development team to ensure the robustness and efficiency of our applications. 

  • Create Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the feasibility of solutions. 

  • Stay updated with the latest industry-standard technologies and integrate them into our applications. 

  • Provide guidance on technical issues during the design and implementation stages of application development. 

  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, and guidelines for application development. 

  • Conduct assessments to identify potential improvements in the application architecture. 

  • Ensure the security, quality, and integrity of data across the organization. 

  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems. 

  • Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming. 

  • Provide guidance on technical issues during the design and implementation stages of data models and databases. 

  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data. 

  This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

Proficiency in Java.

Experience with open-source applications.

Strong understanding of software architectures and design patterns.

Experience with creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs).

Knowledge of industry-standard technologies.

Proficiency in SQL and understanding of other database technologies like NoSQL, Oracle, MongoDB etc.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts related to data architecture to non-technical team members.

Experience with data modeling tools.

Strong understanding of data architectures and design patterns

Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience with machine learning is plus.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.

Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity.

Highly driven, resourceful, and results-oriented.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of machine learning and data analytics is a plus.

Experience with data governance and data security standards.

Experience in designing and implementing database solutions in a business environment.
