Job Description

The CMS Visa Direct Connect team is focused on transforming Visa’s software development and API exposure strategies. We build scalable frameworks and tools that empower developers to create modular services, simplify service discovery, and enhance connectivity across Visa’s ecosystem. Our work spans enterprise-scale API management, CI/CD automation, developer productivity tools, and next-gen payment experiences using cutting-edge technologies.

Role Summary
As a Software Engineer you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services and APIs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions aligned with Visa’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
•    Develop, test, and maintain backend software applications and APIs.
•    Collaborate with teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
•    Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
•    Participate in code reviews and share best practices.
•    Debug and enhance existing systems.
•    Ensure security and data protection in all implementations.
•    Apply knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design to solve problems.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications
•1+ years of professional experience in software development.
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
•Strong foundation in computer science principles.
•Proficiency in Java and Spring Framework (Core Java 8/17, Spring Boot, Webflux, Spring Batch).
•Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture.
•Familiarity with Kafka for distributed messaging.
•Hands-on experience with ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
•Exposure to testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber).
•Understanding of build tools (Maven, Gradle) and Agile methodologies.
•Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
Desirable Skills
•Exposure to frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React.js/Angular/Vue.js).
•Awareness of UI performance and accessibility testing.
•Familiarity with Kubernetes, Nginx.
•Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell).
•Understanding of automation tools and UI/UX principles.
