Job Description

The Staff Systems Engineer in the Developer Experience group will be responsible for engineering and supporting various technologies and tools to provide best Developer experience for Visa’s Development community.  Key responsibilities include:
•    Engineer vendor products to Visa’s environment by designing, installing, upgrading, patching, and maintaining Developer tools.
•    Create implementation procedures using automation tools / pipelines / gitops to manage the state of tool in target environment.   
•    Setup / create / maintain, K8s or VM environments for the tool and follow a promotion process to take the vendor solution from non-prod to production for each release/upgrade/patch. 
•    Assess need for third party / external integrations, meet the requirements of users using the platform, capable of creating custom implementations (plugins / extensions within or outside the tool to interface with it)

•    Partner with internal departments such as Cybersecurity and Governance groups to ensure controls are established maintained and complied for all Developer tools. 
•    Interact with vendors and provide necessary feedback to tailor vendor products to meet Visa’s needs. 
•    Perform regular housekeeping on tools to provide high standards of application stability and reliability.
•    Create standards/ suggestions for using the platform by Visa users. 
•    Support ongoing Developer Tools projects and provide technical input as needed.
•    Support complex technical issues in an interop production environment.
•    Participate in L3 on-call support rotation.
•    Support Audit / compliance conversations for the tools and be able to implement guardrails to protect the system from unintended usage.  
Tools Include: 
•    Project management 
•    Source code management. 
•    Build and Deployment management. 
•    Test and Quality tools.  
•    Developer productivity and analytics tools. 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
•6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
•4/5+ years of experience working in the capacity of a Devops role, build/release/systems engineer, or any other software development related job
•Good administrative knowledge of GitHub,Jenkins, GH Actions,Artifactory, ArgoCD, SonarQube, DTRs
•Good working knowledge in the use of software build tools, e.g. maven, npm or Gradle.
•Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with Kubernetes required.
•Minimum 2 years of experience with AWS /GCP/Azure required.
•Proficient in atleast 1 programming language – Java/Python/Groovy/GoLang
•Proficient in Unix and Windows commands
•Good knowledge in writing pipelines for CI/CD and templates management
•Excellent knowledge in troubleshooting and debugging technical issues.
•Excellent knowledge using tools such as Splunk, Datadog, Graffana, Prometheus, Cloud watch and other monitoring tools.
•Proficient with DORA, SPACE and FLOW metrics to build and understand software engineering productivity metrics.
•Excellent knowledge of DevOps practices and procedures
•Proven ability to multi-task
•Self-motivated and adaptable to change.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work in a team setting across the globe.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 117,700.00 to 170,600.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
