Job Description
The Loyalty Products and Digital Marketing Experience engineering team at Visa is passionate about building innovative software, coding standards & best practices. We are looking for a site reliability engineer (SRE) to join us to empower our users with a rich feature set, high availability, and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. As we expand our customer deployments, we are currently seeking an experienced SRE to deliver insights in real time. Ideal candidate would be someone who brings fresh ideas, demonstrates a unique and informed viewpoint, and enjoys developing robust code and collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop positive user experiences at every interaction. Essential Functions Work on emerging technologies, building distributed applications Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards. Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner Partner with Product on implementation strategy Ensure operational excellence capabilities (usability, availability, resilience, security, etc. are assessed, planned and built into the platform Ensure platform meets security compliance criteria at all times Identify and implement opportunities in the platform that will drive improvements in performance, scalability, reliability and re-usability Drive down technical debt and cost of operations/support
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD

Prior experience with full-stack monitoring—from system-level metrics to SLOs, failure-based testing approaches, alerting, and monitoring strategies
Coding experience beyond simple scripts
Proficiency with Linux and Unix shell
Experience working with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch)
Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes (deploying, managing, and troubleshooting workloads)
A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
Experience in using tools such as Splunk, Sumo Logic, and Catchpoint
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high-level languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript
Experience in implementing Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery pipelines. working knowledge and experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GIT
Experience in deploying, configuring, and maintaining cloud-native applications on AWS and Kubernetes
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform) and Kubernetes manifest management (e.g., Helm charts, Kustomize)
Experience with monitoring and logging solutions for cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK stacks)

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,700.00 to 180,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
