Job Description

The Sales & Client Services and Experience Team in Visa supports business users in Sales, Client Services and Global Client Care in providing access to data and insights using Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML.

This position is ideal for a data engineer who is passionate about designing and developing data engineering pipelines, enhancing and optimizing our existing code base and development procedures. The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to learn quickly and deliver solutions within strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Essential Functions

1. Work with product owners, business stakeholders and internal teams to understand business requirements and desired business outcomes.

2. Assist in scoping and designing analytic data assets, implementing modelled attributes and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

3. Build and maintain a robust data engineering process to develop and implement self-serve data and tools for Visa’s product management teams and data scientists.

4. Find opportunities to create, automate and scale repeatable analyses or build self-service tools for business users.

5. Mentor junior data engineers to build data pipelines and frameworks.

6. Contribute to data engineering best practices and assist leads and architects in solution design.

7. Build data pipelines to support Gen AI solutions and vector embeddings for Gen AI solutions.

8. Exhibit a passion for optimizing existing solutions and making incremental improvements.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
Design and coding skills with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Hive and Map reduce.
Experience with any one ETL tool like Informatica, SSIS, Pentaho or Azure Data Factory.
Experience in data warehousing and an expert in any one of the RDBMS like SQL Server, Oracle,
etc.
Experience on building data pipelines for Gen AI solutions.
Nice to have reporting skills on Power BI, Tableau or QlikView.
Knowledge of successful design, and development of data driven real time and batch systems.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture and service offerings including compute, storage,
databases, networking, AI, and ML.
Passionate about delivering zero defect code that meets or exceeds the proposed defect SLA
and have high sense of accountability for quality and timelines on deliverables.
Experience developing as part of Agile/Scrum team is preferred.
