Job Description
Pismo Technology Organisation
At Pismo, our Technology Organisation is built around empowered engineering tribes that own their domains end-to-end. We value autonomy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Our Product Engineering Tribes are responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that drive real value for our clients and internal teams.
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a tribe of 30+ engineers across 2–6 squads, guiding them through technical evolution, product delivery, and team development. You’ll be a key driver of both technology and management excellence.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on, strategic Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development of a Pipeline Orchestration Platform — a product designed to simplify and automate service bundle promotions and environment rollbacks.
This platform will be UI-driven, secure, multi-tenant, and fully observable. It will integrate with our existing deployment infrastructure and serve both technical and non-technical users across engineering, operations, and support.
You’ll be responsible for building and scaling the engineering team, driving technical decisions, and ensuring delivery of a Minimum Lovable Product (MLP) with the potential to expand across Pismo’s ecosystem.
The Work Itself
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of a product-oriented orchestration platform.
- Collaborate with SRE, Security, IAM, and Architecture to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and actionable plans.
- Guide squads in making architectural decisions, managing technical debt, and maintaining high software maturity.
- Ensure the platform is discoverable, auditable, and integrates seamlessly with deployment tools.
- Promote security best practices (e.g., OWASP), observability, and performance monitoring.
- Foster a culture of documentation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
- Manage 2–6 Engineering Managers and their squads (30+ engineers).
- Conduct weekly 1:1s with Tech Leads and Engineering Managers.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain diverse talent.
- Empower teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Monitor workflows, guide technical decisions, and ensure OKR alignment.
- Provide strategic input to senior leadership and represent engineering in customer meetings.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to performance, integrity, and scalability.
- Lead succession planning and mentor future leaders.
- Promote Pismo’s cultural values through feedback, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement.
