Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (Multiple Openings) in Foster City. CA to:

• Work on Platform-as-a-Service offerings that are easy to consume, scalable, secure, and reliable using open-source based solutions for Big Data technologies.
• Build, configure, deploy, and operate big data services such as Spark, Livy, HUE, SOLR etc. as a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
• Design, develop, test, and deploy high performance code to production.
• Work with the leads, architects, product and project managers to understand the requirements and implement features.
• Identify, analyze, and fix bugs in the software; write test code to ensure that the fixes made have fixed the bugs identified.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues with data platform services in production and non-production environment.
• Position reports to the Foster City, CA office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

• Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a data engineering-related occupation.

• Software development in Java, Python, Scala or Go programming language.
• Working with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop.
• Design and development of web applications.
• Software requirements analysis and design methodologies.
• Data structures and algorithms.
• Relational, non-relational or NoSQL Databases.
• Operating system, such as Unix or Linux.

Additional Information

WORKSITE:  Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $125,500.00 USD to $194,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
