Job Description
Visa’s Technology Organization is a community of problem solvers and innovators reshaping the future of commerce. We operate the world’s most sophisticated processing networks capable of handling more than 65k secure transactions a second across 80M merchants, 15k Financial Institutions, and billions of everyday people. While working with us you’ll get to work on complex distributed systems and solve massive scale problems centered on new payment flows, business and data solutions, cyber security, and B2C platforms.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Sr. Consultant - Software Engineer for the Visa Acceptance Platform - Integration team, a cross-functional group within Acceptance Solutions Technology. We build the connective tissue between Visa’s core platforms and the external ecosystem - delivering secure, scalable integrations that help global banks, emerging fintechs, merchants, acquirers, PSPs, and developers bring Visa capabilities to life. We also partner with Visa product teams to make their offerings accessible and consumable for our developer and partner community. In this role, you will shape how AI is applied within the Integration Team. Operating at the intersection of strategy and delivery, you will distill high-level asks into concrete architectures - models, data pipelines, and services - and ship production-ready capabilities at scale. You will code alongside the team, provide hands-on technical guidance to engineers, and champion new platform capabilities, tools, and practices that streamline integrations and expand access to Visa Acceptance Platform products and services.
The Work Itself:
- Lead the design and delivery of production-grade, AI-driven solutions across the Visa Acceptance Platform, ensuring they meet Visa standards for security, compliance, and reliability.
- Architect and integrate solutions that deliver predictable performance at scale, including zero-message-loss for mission-critical events and high availability globally.
- Apply secure-by-design principles and implement AI guardrails to mitigate risks, including jailbreak prevention, prompt-injection defense, and sensitive-data protection.
- Implement observability for AI services, monitoring model accuracy, latency, and drift.
- Evaluate problem patterns, recommend fit-for-purpose AI models and architectures, and justify design choices.
- Act as a technical consultant to internal product teams and external partners, translating complex integration requirements into scalable AI solutions.
- Collaborate with Visa product teams to expose capabilities via AI-enhanced developer tools, APIs, and workflows.
- Evangelize AI capabilities internally and with partners.
- Contribute to full-stack development where needed.
Essential Functions:
- Translate ambiguous, high-level requests into clear strategies, reference architectures, and roadmaps, and drive alignment on priorities and success metrics.
- Provide technical leadership across teams (design reviews, architecture forums), ensuring decisions meet security, reliability, and compliance standards.
- Establish and champion engineering best practices for AI-enabled integrations, including SDLC quality gates and operational readiness.
- Partner with product, security, compliance, and platform teams to ensure AI initiatives align with Visa strategic direction and governance.
- Participate in Agile planning and delivery to enable measurable, iterative outcomes.
The Skills You Bring:
- Energy and Experience: Growth mindset with a track record of shipping production AI and integration solutions at global scale, comfortable owning outcomes end to end.
- Challenge the Status Quo: Bias for action to use AI guardrails, automation, and integration accelerators to improve reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Language Expertise: Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, Go, Python, or equivalent) and familiarity with modern web frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Builder: Hands-on builder of cloud-native, distributed services (API-first, event-driven) with high availability and zero-message-loss objectives, strong in testing and operational readiness.
- Learner: Constantly deepening expertise in LLM orchestration, RAG, embeddings and vector databases, observability (metrics, tracing, logs), containers, and Kubernetes.
- Partnership: Effective collaborator with Product, Security, Compliance, and Platform teams, consultative with external partners, experienced working in Agile and Scrum environments.
