  • Responsible for supporting a wide variety of Visa products, services, and operational functions as lead attorney.
  • Work closely with business and product teams to achieve key business objectives and help them develop compelling product and service offerings.
  • Draft, negotiate and drive to completion complex commercial agreements that achieve business objectives, and continue to support those business relationships once consummated.
  • Draft, update and manage template agreements to allow for more efficient contract administration.
  • Review and revise product-related marketing materials.
  • Provide sophisticated and creative counseling and advice to business and product teams regarding product development, deployment, and associated contracting considerations.
  • Position reports to the San Francisco, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Employer will accept a Juris Doctor, or foreign equivalent, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related associate counsel or attorney occupation.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Position requires experience in the following:
    • Knowledge of commercial law and regulations in a multi-jurisdictional environment;
    • Drafting, negotiating and driving to completion complex agreements;
    • Managing multiple transaction components in a fast-paced environment and driving deals to completion;
    • Conducting research and analysis in the payments and/or financial services space (including ongoing trends and emerging regulations);
    • Client counseling related to ongoing deal negotiations and contract terms; and
    • Commercial, intercompany and partnership contract negotiation skills.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $176,800.00 USD to $283,100.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position is eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Program, FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time off and Wellness Programs.
