The Opportunity:  
We are looking for a talented, curious, and energetic Software Engineering Manager who can embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale.  As a Visa Software Engineering Manager, you will take the lead role in a cross-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. You will be responsible and accountable for the design, development, and support of multiple applications across several hardware platforms.   This position will have responsibility of day-to-day management of a team of up to 8 software developers and will also contribute to the software development process. The team you lead will be Scrum-based, and you will be expected to leverage your extensive Agile experience to promote Agile values, principles, and best practices, executing Scrum Master responsibilities for the team

 - Partner with Product resources to identify clear business requirements
 - Manage development resources by setting clear business and technical expectations
 - Manage development resources across multiple technologies including .Net, Java, SQL, NoSQL, Windows, Unix/Linux
 - Work collaboratively with senior management, architecture and senior development staff to develop broadly acceptable solutions
 - Set resource goals and delegate project work
 - Drive consistency in artifacts and deliverables, budgets, and resource planning
 - Identify process improvements and/or ineffective use of project hours and resources
 - Generate innovative ideas, solutions, and opportunities to contribute to the Visa enterprise and Issuing Solutions success
 - Ensure resource availability to support deployment activities in various environments
 - Take complete responsibility of the full life cycle of projects and oversee software release implementations when required
 - Design and develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems using multiple technologies

-  Use a coaching leadership style to promote the Agile values, Principles, and best practices for your Scrum team
 - Help your Scrum Team with decision making, dependency management, and eliminating impediments to meet sprint and quarterly execution (release) goals
 - Facilitate Scrum ceremonies with a relentless improvement mindset to promote Agile maturity within the team

**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have awesome team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.  

This is a hybrid position: 50% of the time from Warsaw office on a weekly basis

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

- 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
OR
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
OR
- Minimum nine (9) years of directly related experience.
- Experience of managing teams with the following technologies - .Net, Java, SQL, NoSQL, Windows, Unix/Linux
- Experience managing full life cycle of projects and overseeing software release implementations
- Experience managing large scale environments

- Either direct experience of Scrum Master responsibilities, or extensive Agile development methodology experience (Scrum/Kanban)
- Agile development methodology experience (Scrum/Kanban) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead, recruit, grow and retain high-caliber talent at scale.
- Experienced organizing, running, supporting, and growing large technology organization.
- Must demonstrate longer-term strategic thinking and staying ahead of state-of-the-art curve in order to keep abreast with what’s possible technically, operationally and professionally.
- Capable of forming and advocating independent viewpoint. Demonstrate strong skills influencing, negotiating and communicating.
- Strong analytical, problem determination and customer relations skills.
