Job Description

This is a unique combination of highly strategic, commercial and delivery focused role which is bedded in data. Everything you do will be focused on how to solve the world’s social and sustainability related challenges through data. The successful candidate will be comfortable with working within a client focused highly cross-functional team, in a high degree of ambiguity where the path is unclear or uncharted. The individual must be able have a data-first mindset, be able to quickly build relationships across all levels, understand how to swiftly determine needed course(s) of action. The subject matter of initiatives will widely vary – from segmentation modeling to exploring data enrichment and AI related opportunities to drive sustainable and social related initiatives of banks and merchants – so the ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to apply themselves to diverse topics (sometimes simultaneously).

Some of the core activities of the role will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Act as the subject matter expert and consulting asset on the specialised topic of sustainability related data as it relates to our clients and Visa. You will be brought into consulting engagements as required by the VCA team as well as identify client opportunities.
  • Engage with clients in collaboration with the VCA team to understand their commercial needs and sustainability goals. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to help clients achieve their objectives.
  • Identify impactful business problems/opportunities and build the statistical or machine learning models in collaboration with the VSS and VCA data teams to address the problems/opportunities.
  • Develop training modules on how to use the VSS team data models to enable VCA team self service for engagement and create scaled impact
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret large datasets to support sustainability initiatives. Ensure data accuracy and integrity while managing data collection processes.
  • Develop and implement segmentation models tailored for banks and merchants to identify and target key customer segments. Use advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to create robust models to achieve these outcomes.

Qualifications

Core Competencies

  • A consultant who knows the details of the data and can sell it to clients, as well as support to deliver projects
  • A business builder who can create the content needed to make a scaled global practice that the VCA team can turn to
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor as well as attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility as a peer with functional and regional leaders within Visa
  • Ability to move seamlessly between deep analytical activities, to creating storylines and narratives for clients
  • Degree in quantitative/computational field and 3+ years of experience
  • Fluency with data science tools
  • SQL(ANSI/Hive), Python/R
  • Experience of manipulating large data sets
  • Descriptive and predictive modelling
  • Building dashboards, reports and visualisations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various teams, including data science, consulting teams, sales teams, product teams, and client relationship manager
  • Aptitude for ramping up quickly across novel projects with little oversight and/or precedent
  • Personal presence and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to senior managers and external business partners (including large external speaking engagements)
  • A passion for sustainability and making a difference in the world

Nice to have:

  • Sustainability and Social Impact related experience
  • Experience working with carbon emissions calculations as well as segmentation and persona development
  • Payments and financial services experience
