Job Description

The Europe Policy Strategy Analyst is a full-time role based in Brussels and reports to the Head of Policy Strategy for Europe, Government Affairs (GA). This is a supporting role focused on the preparedness and delivery of GA's strategic engagement across the Europe Region. GA forms an important part of safeguarding Visa’s “right-to-play” in the Europe region, as an enabler of the Visa 2030 corporate strategy, through the identification and execution of engagement strategies at all levels of seniority. The aim is to ensure that policy frameworks are conducive to a fair, competitive and successful operating environment for Visa's current and future business.  

This role will involve strong collaboration with the GA market leads across the Europe region, in close partnership with the GA team in Brussels including, as appropriate, supporting GA colleagues on research, policy and strategy. As the role covers the Visa Europe Region, some travel in the region may be required on rare occasions. The role may also provide industry expertise and support to global colleagues as required.

Headline objectives of the role:

  • Work alongside the Head of Policy Strategy to research, analyse and collate information to feed into horizontal strategies on major policy topics.

  • Take a holistic and scalable approach to Government Affairs across the Europe region, to support consistency in our narrative and in the execution of all positioning and advocacy efforts. 

  • Act as a strategic advisor to internal audiences and leadership and clients - to navigate geopolitical risks, regulatory challenges, and exploit policy opportunities in support of the Visa 2030 strategy.

  • Support the delivery of Europe’s GA strategy, including support to senior leadership and Visa executives to execute strategic policy-maker and client engagement, working with GA team members across the Europe region.

  • Support efforts to fortify Europe GA capabilities, improving performance and strengthening teamwork. Promote a culture that maintains the highest degree of integrity, inclusion, accountability, and collaboration.

What we expect of you, day to day:

  • Maintain a relentless focus on the bigger picture, adopting a strategic approach.

  • Support in the development of Europe policy strategy deliverables, in alignment of Visa commercial strategy and political environment.

  • Proactively monitor the changing external political and policy environment to identify, assess and communicate risks to Visa’s business objectives.

  • Support the delivery of periodic and targeted strategic internal reporting, providing actionable insights on policy developments, geopolitical risks, and regulatory changes enabling informed strategic decision-making.

  • Work constructively in different markets with other functions, across the regional and global environment, in a matrix environment and with GA team members to support work on research, policy and strategy.

  • Provide support on strategic initiatives related to horizontal policy topics, from time to time..

  • Support open, timely and targeted communication with executives to ensure awareness of main regulatory, policy and engagement developments and strategy to protect Visa business and reputation.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • A demonstrable and significant interest in and understanding of geopolitics and politics is essential, including the ability to apply this to business impacts
  • Experience in relevant corporate positions such as politics, policy, strategy or consultancy - in the payments, financial services or technology sectors would be a plus
  • Very strong communication, both written and oral, and stakeholder management skills. Experience of engaging with c-suite is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to influence and persuade peers and colleagues
  • Ability to think strategically, proactively and creatively
  • There is a need to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience of operating in complex matrix organizations and across different markets and cultures is a plus
