Job Description

The Software Engineering Development Director in Payment Products Development (PPD) will lead a Clearing and Settlement (CAS) team developing the Long-term Technology Architecture (LTA) for critical Treasury applications that support global financial settlement and reconciliation between Visa and its Clients and partner networks.  Transaction Level Reconciliation and Bank Account Reconciliation for Global Funds Transfer is a critical functional step in the delivery of Visa’s products and services across the world. The team’s mission is to ensure that the Treasury applications accurately and timely move the funds to thousands of settlement funds transfers a day in multiple global currencies and reconcile the payments to the highest degree of accuracy.  The role requires a firm understanding of existing software development in agile methodology. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, excellent communicator, have demonstrable expertise in software engineering development and above all be customer and team focused.

The candidate will work closely with Treasury business product group, peers in the test engineering teams as well as senior management and other groups across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture team of software engineers by motivating and mentoring and assist in hiring critical talent.

  • Provide guidance to software engineers on their daily tasks including design, coding/testing as needed.

  • Provide leadership at distinct points in the software development lifecycle particularly in transitioning to a ‘business as usual’ environment and will work with business facing stakeholders to provide the technical solutions.

  • Contribute to code and load quality initiatives.  Ensure adherence to coding standards including code reviews.

  • Instil best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high quality work on tight schedules.

  • Collaborate with test engineering teams to improve development and test processes.

  • Develop a resource plan in support of key Treasury Systems projects.

  • Project management: prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments.

  • You will be a distinguished ambassador for product development, collaborating, negotiating, managing tradeoffs and evaluating opportunistic new ideas with business partners.

  • Operational Excellence: monitoring & operation of production services.

  • Instill controls & business continuity- staffing and technical redundancy.

  • Perform application technical ownership and Information Steward Responsibilities and attestations.

  • Represent Global Treasury area for all audits (e.g., internal, external, SOX, SSA16 etc.)

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in which 5+ years of management experience.
  • Experience in developing solutions and products for Transaction Processing, Payments, Bank Account and Transaction Reconciliation.
  • Experience managing a team of software engineers and analysts in a Linux based environments using open-source technologies such as Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Angular, Node, Spring, Linux, and MySQL.
  • Experience in managing team and software development using agile methodology.
  • A deep understanding of end-to-end software development lifecycle in a team, including version control, build process, testing, and code release.
  • Good working knowledge of program and project management methodologies and the role of technology resources in support of those methodologies
  • Experience with vendor software management.
  • Experience with SWIFT Products, Finance and Treasury domain is a big plus.
  • Passion for high quality software engineering.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong business and technical vision.
  • Proven experience delivering highly available production software/platform.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Worked in top notch technology firms managing teams and experience in delivering enterprise level solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
