The Director will lead the VIP teams responsible for the development, quality assurance, and maintenance of Visa’s Authorization system. The solutions delivered by this team will help Visa's constituents deploy services and programs benefiting merchants, processors, banks, and cardholders worldwide.  A successful candidate will work closely with senior management and other groups across the organization both in Poland and overseas. The Authorization system is at the heart of Visa's core payment services, and the technology initiatives undertaken by this organization have a direct impact on the global payments market.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of developers and support personnel in support and enhancements of the of the Authorization system and/or Authorization support systems.
  • Instill a culture that works toward the highest standards while ensuring that business requirements are understood and adhered to.
  • Grow and mentor the team and its members.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure that the right work is prioritized, and team members understand the context.
  • Be an advocate for activities and practices that help to boost overall corporate financial health.
  • Work closely with colleagues in other technology departments as well as the business and product offices to establish effective, productive business relationships, leverage these relationships in order to better understand global business and market drivers, as well as technology initiatives that affect the VIP area.

 

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
•10+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• 5 or more years of strong leadership skills, with recent experience leading a team and driving to results.
• Experience with IBM's high availability, high volume TPF (Transaction Processing Facility) environment is highly preferred.
• Experience with Linux based applications a plus.
• Experience with supporting customers and delivering solutions to problems in a timely manner
• Hands on experience with automated testing and code deployment a plus
• Track record of mentoring and coaching junior staff
• Solid understanding of software development methodology practices, and a proven history of deploying those practices to ensure successful execution against technology initiatives.
• Knowledge of card payment services processing is highly preferred.
• Candidate must be able to establish and sustain effective software development and support practices that includes working with team members across multiple geographies.
• Good working knowledge of program and project management methodologies and the role of technology resources in support of those methodologies.
• Undergraduate degree in computer sciences, electrical engineering, information systems or a related technical discipline is required, an advanced degree is preferred.
