Job Description

This role will drive global accounting processes transformation and global accounting consistency to support timely and accurate financial reporting.  This position reports to the VP, North America Controller and Global Process Owner for Account to Report (ATR).

The Director of Accounting, Global ATR will serve as a key leader for the ATR function. This role requires experience with both technical and operational accounting and implementing transformational changes. This role will work closely with our regional controllers and ATR leaders around the global to drive accounting process consistency, identify and implement accounting automation and efficiently transition work to our shared service teams.  We seek a focused and inspired individual who has a strong accounting background and the ability to influence and mobilize teams around the globe.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with ATR leaders around the global to streamline and standardize accounting processes across the Company.  This includes inventorying current processes across regions, identifying the global standard, influencing regions to align and driving implementation and documentation.

  • Work closely with our shared service organization to transition applicable standardized work from Visa’s five regional hubs to the shared service center(s) while delivering accurate, first-time quality results.

  • Partner closely with key global stakeholders including Corporate IT and Finance Systems Strategy team to appropriately prioritize automation opportunities, quantify return on investment and drive implementation of best in class, innovative solutions.   

  • Instill a culture of continuous improvement in a methodical, pragmatic and expeditious manner including automation of manual processes and controls.  Use Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve Controllership activities.

  • Manage our global ATR initiatives from end-to-end including scoping, project planning, delivery and reporting with a willingness to roll up sleeves and drive solutioning when needed. Individual will need to hold a high bar for project output and on time delivery.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
•10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
•Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
•Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of an organization
•Public accounting; Big 4 experience
•Experience working at a large, multinational, publicly traded company
•Deep experience driving accounting automation, standardization and process improvements at large global company
•Champions and drives change initiatives; challenges the status quo
•Track record of exceptional collaboration and partnership skills in a global, matrixed environment
•Self-starter with the ability to “roll up their sleeves” and handle numerous projects concurrently
•Drives results, even when faced with ambiguous circumstances
•Exceptional personal accountability and the highest ethical standards
•Leverages best in class technologies, automation to achieve efficient outcomes
•Strong knowledge of Oracle, Ariba, Blackline, Quantum

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 161,500.00 to 234,200.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
