General Purpose:

Technical Support and Production Engineer Specialist plans and supervises technical projects to include new products, tools, and process improvements. Convert Company Strategies into projects to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost as an advocate for zero tolerance safety culture throughout the region. Direct coordination with global PE team, regional teams and local factory teams. This scope will include the assembly of Nacelles, Hub and Powertrain within Vestas factories.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and optimize the TS and PE team through sharing best practices.
  • Direct and support New Product Introductions and Tech Transfers for the factory.
  • Effectively supervise multi-disciplinary project teams; coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Responsible for highly complex and strategic projects, from pre-gate initiation through project close and confirmation of running production with stakeholder reporting.
  • Setup processes to include process flows, documentation and training plans.
  • Develop and coordinate tool creation and deployment.
  • Determines test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
  • Lead CAPEX projects with Factories to include budget planning and execution.
  • Develop business cases, follow budgets and submits investment requests regarding the purchasing of new equipment/materials.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training, acts as mentor to colleagues in evaluation, data collection, data analysis, Root Cause Corrective Action and effectiveness validation.
  • Coordinate total predictive maintenance (TPM) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) processes to Production.
  • Resolve process problems and identify solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
  • Develop and update process procedures to ensure that documentation is accurate and understandable.
  • Design methods and collaborate on ideas for maintaining or increasing production levels through continuous improvement methodologies while improving production costs, yields, quality, and safety.
  • Determine the test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
  • Interface with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation.
  • Oversee the assigned area.
  • Support for programming and troubleshooting both robotic & automated equipment/machines.
  • Identify PTS (Process Technical Specifications) or instructions when buying new equipment.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering with a Master's Degree preferred and/or Project Management Certification.
  • 10+ years' experience in large scale manufacturing or technical engineering, wind experience is beneficial.
  • Experience as a Project Manager of complex cross-functional innovation and development projects within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include advanced skills in MS Office programs,
  • Experience in Lean process, Six Sigma Yellow or Black belt beneficial with Lean understanding.
  • Quality Engineering knowledge to include PFMEA's and Control Plans.
  • Understanding of production process and tools used in Wind assembly and composite processes.
  • CAD drafting capability (SolidWorks / Creo / AutoCAD).
  • Experience with Systems to include Bill of Material, Revision Control, Routings, Process Work Instructions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to physically work on-site on factory floor with technicians and production team members as job assignments require.
  • Will be required to see and hear alarms, timers, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Will be required to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the task.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality manner.
  • Develop and present executive level presentations to communicate complex issues with simplicity.
  • Ability to establish targets and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.
  • Ability to work with limited to no supervision.
  • Ability to provide direction to engineering colleagues, including direct supervision if required.
  • Ability to effectively lead a cross functional team that may include internal, external, domestic and international stakeholders.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms in English to senior management.
