Our Data Scientists are at the forefront of innovation by leveraging a wide range of AI/ML techniques to design and implement solutions that deepen the understanding of Vanguard clients, inform strategic planning, and optimize business decisioning as well as operational processes.

In this role, we are looking for an experienced data scientist to construct or contribute to innovative solutions such as building computer vision models to safeguard mobile check deposit, modeling client behavior with graph network, using LLM and NLP methods to extract aspect-based insight from client comments, and creating integrated solutions to reduce call volume.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop deep understanding of CXD data sources. Leverage big data platforms and programming skills to access and prepare data for analytical consumption.
- Research, develop, and implement advanced AI/ML solutions to support data-driven business decision making. Stay abreast with development in the AI/ML community through training and self-development.
- Serve as the data science expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
- Prepare and deliver insight presentations and action recommendations. Communicate complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
- Understand and comply with Vanguard's model governance policies and procedures. Contribute to the continuous evolution of model governance best practices.
- Mentor and develop junior data scientists and analysts.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of three years' work experience with data wrangling and AI/ML model development. Deep knowledge in one or more of the following areas - Deep Learning, NLP, graph network, computer vision, experimentation, supervised/unsupervised learning methods.
- MS or Ph.D. in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a STEM field. Or undergraduate degree in such fields with proven track record of learning and self-development.
- Proficiency with Python and SQL. Experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms - preferably AWS SageMaker.
