Overview

Enterprise Advice's (EA's) Methodology Team develops personalized, scalable advice methodology for our advice businesses around the globe. Our Wealth Planning Research Team is responsible for developing new financial planning strategies and enhancing existing strategies to improve the outcomes of our advised clients globally.

Summary

As the Senior Manager, Wealth Panning Research on the Enterprise Advice wealth planning methodology research team, you will lead a team and initiate research projects that enhance Vanguard's impact in the advice industry. Responsible for helping to set the strategy and direction of Vanguard's advised wealth planning services and lead complex projects to meet Enterprise Advice Methodology's strategic long-term goals. Advocates for EA's strategic vision with internal stakeholders to encourage adoption of new methodologies and enhancements to existing methodologies. Serves as an expert on complex financial planning issues for internal stakeholders. Provides guidance to investment analysts.

What it takes
  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Drives complex quantitative and qualitative analysis and offers opinions and recommendations related to financial planning strategies and methodologies. Devises perspectives that enhance Vanguard's role as an advice leader in the industry.
  • Leads the preparation of written material, presentations, and statistical analyses as needed for clients, prospects, senior management, and partners. Includes pros and cons surrounding different financial planning strategies and provides Vanguard' s opinion on subject matter based on analysis of investment research.
  • Initiates and drives research projects that enhance Vanguard's external position as an advice leader in the industry.
  • Participates in the ongoing review and improvement of Vanguard's wealth management methodology. Performs detailed methodology audits and makes recommendations on changes.
  • Serves as a financial planning strategy internal authority. Meets with senior leaders to advocate and determine requirements for new methodologies and enhancements to existing methodologies.
  • Helps develop and drive the long-term strategy for Vanguard's financial planning advice offers.
  • Participates in group discussions designed to identify and debate advice methodology issues and potential research projects. Develops recommendations on new research topics or methodology issues.
  • Provides mentorship, coaching, and development to investment analysts on research, methodology, or overall context regarding analyses.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Eight years related work experience, including five years financial planning experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education in a related field.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience required.
Special Factors
  • Familiarity with sophisticated financial planning optimization techniques, including utility theory, strongly preferred.
  • PhD. or equivalent research experience in Financial Planning, Economics, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Python preferred.
  • People leadership experience preferred.
