We have worked with clients in Spain for many years and have deep rooted client relationships on the ground. Opening the office in Madrid will allow us to broaden and deepen those relationships with wholesale and adviser clients. Spain is one of the largest investment management markets in Europe but is characterised by low penetration of indexing and ETFs. As one of the largest passive and active investment managers in the world, Vanguard is well positioned to help Spanish investors understand the benefits of low-cost index funds and ETFs.
About the role
As Channel Marketing Specialist you will help to enable the success of the sales team by developing and enhancing sales strategies in Spain. You will take responsibility for producing collateral and materials that support Vanguard's sales efforts to wholesale and advisor clients across Spain. You will produce ongoing insight and direction through competitive analyses and updates to the sales strategy and work closely with the country head and senior sales team on the sales and marketing strategy for Vanguard in Spain. This is a newly created role in Vanguard's new office in Madrid, and so you will be a critical part of our success in Spain.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Country Head, Spain, senior sales team, and Europe Marketing team to develop and deliver the sales and marketing strategy for Vanguard in Spain
- Establish strategic priorities including client segmentation methodologies, coverage, and service models.
- Identify opportunities in the Spanish investor landscape and communicate opportunities and changes in strategic approach to the sales team.
- Plan and execute promotional events leveraging expertise in particular products or channels (for example ETFs), or in a targeted territory or market segment (e.g. Retail Intermediaries).
- Research and analyse emerging trends in the industry and influence sales leadership to consider strategic implications of the evolving market.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to support analytical needs of the sales team and identify key trends that may have implications on the sales methodologies or business strategy.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Related channel marketing and sales experience, ideally in a financial or professional services firm
- Fluent Spanish and English language skills, to business proficiency level
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

We are in the process of establishing our new office in Madrid in the Barrio de Salamanca region. This job will be based there.
