What this job involves:
As an Operating Engineer at JLL, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facilities during overnight shifts. This position focuses on the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building equipment and systems to meet client expectations and operational standards. You’ll bring expertise in one primary trade area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations) while applying multi-skilled knowledge to other systems to keep operations running smoothly. Your work will directly support JLL’s mission to deliver exceptional facility management services, contributing to client satisfaction, operational excellence, and a safe workplace.
Shift:
Overnight, Wednesday through Saturday, 10-hour shifts. Shift start: 10:00 PM Tuesday night – 8:30 AM Wednesday morning through Saturday morning.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Operate, monitor, and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and control systems.
Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, BAS, lighting, and related systems.
Respond promptly to emergency calls, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and risk.
Replace lighting components, motors, pumps, and plumbing fixtures as required.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and work orders.
Oversee contracted maintenance work, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.
Follow established safety procedures for handling hazardous materials and maintaining a clean work environment.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, plus two years of technical/trade school in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC.
Universal Technician certification for CFCs (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
2–5 years of relevant experience in building maintenance, repair, plumbing, or electrical work.
Strong working knowledge of building systems and equipment operations.
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Central Utility Plant operations.
Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Fire Life Safety systems.
Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Experience evaluating vendors and managing contractor performance.
Ability to adapt to multiple priorities and work under minimal supervision.
