General Summary:

Our team is responsible for internal development, management and maintenance of infrastructure that supports all our applications at Unum.

This opportunity is on our Mainframe Infrastructure team who delivers a reliable and stable platform with vast transaction processing to meet our business and customer needs. The role will be responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of System Automation & Omegamon Components on z/OS (z/Service Management Suite).

We are looking for an Engineer with Mainframe skills to collaborate with cross functional stakeholders and deliver on installation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring across a range of infrastructure applications, technologies and platforms. This role will provide direction and technical solutions for leveraging existing and future technologies to create business value, while working with and mentoring junior Engineers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bachelors Degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience.
  • 4 + years experience with strong infrastructure background.
  • Ability to write script and use other applications/tools and must be able to System Automation & Omegamon Components on z/OS.
  • Agile development/methodologies preferred.

The Role

  • Daily/BAU - the below ability/skillset is a requirement for this role:
    • Develop, modify, install & prepare Mainframe system automation routines.
    • Customize System Automation MATs, Omega on components. Apply maintenance to DEV/PRD for SA/Omegamon
    • Code Net View PIPE's/REXX, JCL
    • Diagnose, isolate, debug problems/issues and perform problem resolution.
    • Ability to automate processing of z/OS components and batch workload.
    • Integrate with IBM Z Operations Analytics to reduce the time for problem isolation and resolution.
    • Provision of documentation & training for Command Center Operations staff.
  • Defines, implements, and manages the relevant infrastructure technologies.
  • Review infrastructure security holes, applies patches, create console roles and reviews, and creates and installs security packs as required
  • Develops monitoring, dashboards, escalations, and alerts with ability to resolve system problems.
  • Follows incident management and change management processes, creating runbooks.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,400.00-$174,800.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
