General Summary:
The incumbent in this role has primary responsibility for developing and managing key National Marketing Organization (NMO) relationships as well as strong field sales and client management alignment. This role is proactive in creating a close partnership with the management team of the NMO, facilitating sales growth, ensuring obstacles are removed, training opportunities occur and development of the relationship expands. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and executing business plans at the NMO and local partner level to drive growth. The position is responsible for translating plans into actionable steps for the field to execute growth opportunities. This position requires a balance between driving the corporate business objectives and influencing the internal and external partners.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives activities that leads to profitable sales growth and results (new and inforce block growth) for assigned Partner organizations.
- Designs and implements initiatives in support of persistency improvements and close ratio improvements.
- Develops strong relationships with assigned Partners, sharing the Unum value story at all partner events.
- Communicate consistently with national contacts as well as local brokers.
- Drive annual strategy sessions with assigned national partner to determine initiatives that will impact sales goal achievement
- Drive special projects as appropriate for each individual Partner - core market initiatives, increased activity on large cases, cross product/new lines of coverage sales as well.
- Leveraging internal partners, develop and execute on training opportunities with assigned partners focused on delivering the Unum message, new products, and enhancing relationships at the national and local level.
- Monitor results of partners and develop actions to ensure results are on track.
- Facilitate and advocate issue resolution for national partners by determining decision makers and assisting with the navigation of home office functional areas.
- Partner with sales offices to communicate partner contracts, initiatives and implement plans to drive market activity
- Support the product areas for new product development, providing ongoing feedback and expertise.
- Work in partnership with Unum field force, underwriting and customer service to provide outstanding support to Partners.
- Work with home office and external partners to appropriately analyze and allocate marketing expenses and service fees.
- Leads, develop and motivate a team of employees that enhancing broker relationships
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- A minimum of 5-7 years experience in the insurance or similar industry
- Experience in managing people and developing individuals
- Experience in employee benefit sales both at the retail level and or wholesale level preferred
- Proven credibility with internal sales force and brokerage distribution channel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills - both in presentation style with large groups and informally with smaller groups
- Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
- Proven ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade with internal and external partners
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and influence/drive partner strategies
- Strong relationship management/conflict management skills
- Proven success in a complex business role
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Must possess a positive, professional company image to external customers.
- Ability to travel approximately 40%

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,900.00-$169,900.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
