General Summary:
This high-profile position will help guide the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to support key business objectives. This position may serve as a member of the senior management team with a primary focus on helping manage the strategic transformation and investment portfolio of Business and IT change initiatives. This position will act as a key point of contact between executive management and employees or other stakeholders and will help drive the translation of identified strategies into key portfolio initiatives at the tactical level. This position will help deliver portfolio-level analyses and insights to guide decision-making. The incumbent will help to coordinate and align ongoing strategic, financial and technology planning processes, and in general support the senior leader in ensuring effective team governance and management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, oversee, and drive implementation of a robust portfolio governance process ensuring alignment of the portfolio to deliver significant business value.
- Analyze portfolio on an ongoing basis to ensure that work aligns with strategic goals of business
- Coordinate with key governance bodies (i.e. IT) across the enterprise to ensure a cohesive approach and transparency of outcomes
- Consistently evaluate and manage initiative results by monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving implementation/performance benchmarks, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players, and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives
- Help to prepare and facilitate regular governance meetings
- May help to define and report on metrics regarding the performance of the portfolio from both a business and IT delivery perspective, including insights around how well we are delivering on our strategy
- Foster close partnerships with key partners to identify issues requiring resolution/escalation; helping to negotiate and resolve conflicts and manage the prioritization of trade-offs
- Responsible for ensuring transparency and information flow across the Strategy Execution & Transformation team
- Partner with colleagues to advise executive leadership team(s) on governance structure and outcomes
- Perform other duties as needed
Job Specifications
- Bachelor's degree required, MBA and/or strategic consulting firm experience preferred; for internal candidates - Director experience required
- 5-10 years' experience in business or related areas is required
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to collaborate and build credibility across multiple lines of business functions regardless of reporting relationship
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with experience in creating executive level presentations
- Ability to operate in the gray and structure ambiguity
- Demonstrated record of successful project management
- A keen eye for detail and creativity
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and multi-task efficiently to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as to effectively lead and influence others without formal authority
- Ability and desire to learn and apply new things in a creative, positive manner and attitude
- Ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality of information
- Demonstrated presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel required

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,900.00-$169,900.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
