General Summary:

The Director of Operational Reporting serves as a key member of the O&E Tech Run leadership team, responsible for leading strategic planning efforts, driving operational effectiveness, and managing performance reporting across the organization.

This role provides thought leadership and cross-functional collaboration to enhance technology and business services, leveraging agile practices. The Director ensures transparency through robust operational reporting, supports data-driven decision-making, and fosters a high-performing, diverse team culture.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT, finance, project management, systems, or a related field
  • Proven experience executing IT and business plans aligned to strategic goals
  • Advanced understanding of Agile, Lean, Scaled Agile, and Product Development Lifecycles
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a track record of solving complex problems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of influencing and collaborating across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a dynamic and ambiguous environment
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation skills

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Provide strategic guidance across the O&E Tech Run organization to align capacity planning and delivery with business priorities
  • Influence multiple teams through leadership-by-influence, promoting agile practices and continuous improvement
  • Integrate planning activities to support long-term strategic objectives

2. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key liaison with internal stakeholders, including IT, Change Partners, and Finance, to ensure alignment and transparency
  • Build strong working relationships across business and technology functions to support integrated planning and budgeting
  • Partner with Finance to manage annual planning inputs, budget accuracy, and ongoing financial adjustments

3. Operational Effectiveness and Reporting

  • Own the delivery and evolution of operational reporting that drives performance insights
  • Analyze operational trends, KPIs, and success factors to identify opportunities for organizational improvement
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of agile teams and processes

4. Risk Management and Conflict Resolution

  • Proactively identify and manage risks associated with strategic and operational initiatives
  • Resolve conflicts with diplomacy, facilitating consensus while advancing business goals
  • Adjust risk management strategies based on evolving impact and likelihood

5. Talent Development and Team Building

  • Cultivate a strong leadership and talent pipeline to meet organizational goals
  • Mentor and develop staff, supporting self-organizing agile teams and promoting high performance
  • Create an inclusive and growth-oriented team culture

6. Individual Contributor Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth operational data analysis to inform strategic decisions
  • Lead select cross-functional projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timelines
  • Maintain accurate documentation for systems, processes, and project activities
  • Develop executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$109,100.00-$224,000.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
