The Associate Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. An Associate Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient.

Location: 1601 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10128

Hours: 37.5 total hours per week. Wednesday 2:00pm - 8:00pm, Thursday & Friday 7:50am - 8:00pm, and Saturday 7:50am - 5:00pm

Specialty: Urgent Care

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
  • Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
  • Enters and scans patient's demographic and insurance information in Epic
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
  • Collects co-payments and patient balances
  • Answers incoming phone calls in a courteous and prompt manner; directs calls and takes messages
  • Assists physician and clinical staff by coordinating follow up care for patients; schedules referral appointments for patients and obtains authorization for diagnostic testing
  • Sends patient records to primary care physician
  • Takes vital signs, performs EKGs and assists providers with patient care
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients and documents patient encounters in Epic
  • Performs lab testing and quality assurance
  • Prepares and tracks specimens sent to lab
  • Restocks and maintains inventory of exam rooms, lab and storage rooms
  • Places outgoing phone calls to patients for follow up care and handles incoming phone calls from patients
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of relevant medical office experience
  • Ability to be flexible to travel to neighboring urgent care facilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience
  • Epic experience

The hourly range for this role is $16.00 to $24.42 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
