About the Role

The Director of Forecasting Analytics will be a strategic leader responsible for establishing and leading a central forecasting program within OptumRx that will drive improved business decision-making through accurate and timely projections of key metrics. The Director will collaborate with senior stakeholders and analytics teams across the organization to ensure alignment, adoption, and continuous improvement of the forecasting program. This is a high-impact, highly visible role requiring deep Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) industry expertise, strong leadership skills, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive PBM forecasting program
  • Establish a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for the forecasting program
  • Identify, prioritize, and oversee the development of forecasting models for key PBM metrics
  • Establish and maintain forecasting standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Oversee the development, validation, deployment, and maintenance of forecasting models
  • Build relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across all business units
  • Collaborate with embedded analytics teams in different business units
  • Influence stakeholders to adopt and utilize forecasting insights in their decision-making processes
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the program's effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance forecasting capabilities
  • Regularly assess the performance of forecasting models and make necessary adjustments

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated project management, change management, and execution experience
  • Expertise in statistical forecasting techniques (e.g., time series, regression etc.)
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus across different departments
  • Ability to explain complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset
  • Experience managing a team of analysts or data scientists is an advantage
