You will join a team of data scientists and data analysts who are responsible for building the pricing engine on our pricing platform. We build algorithms that find the optimal combination of prices to achieve multiple targets, given multiple constraints and uncertain future outcomes. We are accountable to build pricing in one of the most complex areas of UnitedHealth Group, one of the largest companies in the world. We bring initiative, innovative thinking and curiosity to constantly evolve in a changing regulatory and competitive environment. As a Data Analyst, you will apply your expertise and skills to develop automated testing capabilities in our pricing engine as your primary goal. In addition, exploratory data analysis and interpretation of large complex datasets is a key requirement of the role. In support of these goals, you will be producing testing frameworks, conducting data analysis, and collaborating with the team.
Primary Responsibilities of the Data Analyst:
- Build out the automated pricing optimization test suite and capability.
- Explore, analyze and interpret large datasets to identify patterns, trends and anomalies.
- Perform exploratory analysis to explain pricing drivers and quantify client/business impact; present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Monitor performance of clients across the book of business, tracking client-level KPIs, identify clients that require intervention, and make recommendations to partners for action.
- Collaborate closely with business and technical colleagues in an agile-driven environment to solve problems and develop solutions through to completion.
- Support production releases through testing, monitoring, and collaboration with stakeholders across multiple teams.
- Execute manual and automated release testing. Define and refine test criteria, test cases, and test scenarios in detail.
- Work independently and with focus when needed.
- Ensure quality in design and coding outputs.
- Maintain your knowledge of the latest technologies and techniques relating to data analytics.
- Work within the solution delivery methods and standards set out

Required qualifications of the Data Analyst:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in any degree where analysis, mathematics, and coding are a major component or equivalent experience
- Experience, enthusiasm and curiosity for problem solving using analytics
- Proven collaborator who enjoys working across business and technical teams to solve problems, conduct analyses and iterate based on feedback
- Ability to interpret large datasets, troubleshoot issues, and translate findings into actionable insights
- Proficient writing SQL scripts including more advanced functions
- Intermediate proficiency in Python; producing clean, maintainable code and following best practice
- Experience utilizing databases and data management
- Aptitude and experience in applying logic and mathematical concepts
- Entry level / intermediate BI development training or experience (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)
Preferred qualifications of the Data Analyst:
- Experience contributing production code
- Experienced with version control (e.g. Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Experience with at least one relational database (e.g. PGSQL) and exposure to a modern data warehouse or cloud compute environment (e.g. Azure databricks)
- Understanding of data pipeline engineering, testing frameworks, or containerization (e.g. Docker) is a plus
