We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead UI & UX Designer to join the team responsible for ensuring a seamless overall user experience across our product suite. The candidate will be responsible for design deliverables such as complex workflows, wireframes, user interface designs, interaction models, and prototypes for primarily mobile experiences. Our lead designers will solve novel, cross-cutting agentic experiences that impact the overall user experience. About the job:
In this role, you will be part of our growing team for AI-first and mobile designers. You'll work closely with our design systems team, and together, you will help us set the UX vision, shape the evolution of our design systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, AI-first products. You will help us reimagine our product's user experience and drive the product's mobile direction. You will work closely with product and engineering partners and key stakeholders to clearly identify the desired outcomes, explore solutions for customer pain points, pitch design concepts, and advocate for the user experience across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conversational Design: Creating natural, human-like dialogues for AI agents, moving beyond simple chatbots to proactive, context-aware assistants.
- AI Integration & Design Systems: Incorporate Generative AI into your design processes to drive innovation, usability, and accessibility. Guide and drive management of dynamic design systems, transitioning to AI-driven parameter setting for consistent product quality.
- Personalization & Predictive UX: Designing for adaptive interfaces that anticipate user needs and automate workflows, requiring close collaboration between UX, data, and engineering.
- End-to-End Design & Execution: Lead the design process from concept to completion, including research, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration. Develop detailed wireframes and prototypes, ensuring high-quality implementation in alignment with overall business priorities. Crafting high-quality design solutions that thoughtfully consider the holistic experience with attention to micro-interactions and visual details. Apply strong design intuition and creative problem-solving to deliver impactful results. Defining product requirement, process improvements and policies by partnering with Product leaders across our suite. Building awareness of product roadmaps and business priorities. Leading product-level design discussions, workshops, decision-making and documentation.
- Project Management & Collaboration: manage commitments and deadlines across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
- User Research & Data-Driven Design: Conduct and oversee user research to uncover insights and validate design decisions. Utilize data analytics to inform design choices and measure UX impact, developing user personas and journey maps.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor designers, fostering continuous learning and growth. Contribute to the improvement of our community's design processes and practices; assist with recruitment and talent development.

Interest in artificial intelligence (AI) or familiarity with AI technologies is essential. The ideal candidate is excited by the evolving role of AI in design and is eager to explore, prototype, and iterate on AI-driven user experiences to enhance product innovation.
We are looking for a highly experienced, visionary team member who impacts company-wide design strategy and leads peers by example and influence. This role combines design principles, technical skills, and leadership with a focus on creating user-centered mobile experiences across various products that make up UKG's enterprise suite. You will work at the intersection of UX design and engineering, requiring a strong understanding of both user experience principles and technical implementation to bridge the gap between design and development, and focusing on creating intuitive and efficient user experiences based on thorough research. Excellent communication skills also are crucial, as you will be responsible for developing and presenting strategies, concepts, and designs to large groups, cross-functional teams, and executives.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to User Experience Designing.
- 8+ years of experience as a User Experience Designer, Product Designer for enterprise or consumer mobile apps.
- Expert using and educating others in the use of design and prototyping applications such as Figma, Framer, and eagerly adopting new tools and techniques, e.g., Google Stitch, Lovable, Replit.
- Demonstrate an awareness of how generative AI (GenAI), prompt-driven interfaces, and emerging AI workflows can shape user experiences and influence modern design practices.
- Be a system thinker, comfortable with designing beyond your basic screen or user flow.
- Be comfortable with AI and abreast of new technologies.
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills to compellingly and engagingly share your design material with peers and leaders across disciplines. Can communicate complex concepts with clarity - verbally and in writing, in person and virtually.
- Can identify, recommend and enforce design patterns, processes and best practices and advocates for customer value through influencing, understanding and building consensus across disciplines.
- Skilled at defining design direction across multiple delivery platforms (responsive browser, mobile app, etc.)
- Provide A design Portfolio clearly demonstrating your work and influence on design practice and process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with product Localization and Accessibility.
- Experience within the Human Capital Management or Workforce Management industry
- Facility designing for various front-end technologies and frameworks (such as Angular React, Ember, Material, Bootstrap, Ionic)
- Experience contributing to the development and adoption of Design Systems, Pattern libraries and Style Guides.

The pay range for this position is $126,300.00 to $181,550.00, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
