About the Role

Are you passionate about creating extraordinary employee experiences that begin on day one and extend throughout the first year? The Director, New Hire Experience will lead the enterprise-wide transformation of our orientation and onboarding journeys at UKG. This role is responsible for designing and executing week-one orientation, as well as ongoing onboarding programs, resources, and experiences that help new hires feel connected, supported, and empowered to succeed.

This position will report to the Vice President of Talent Development and partner closely with People Operations, IT, Tech, and functional enablement teams to deliver innovative and engaging onboarding experiences aligned with UKG's culture and business strategy. The Director will serve as a trusted advisor in shaping how we welcome and integrate talent globally, ensuring consistency while tailoring approaches for local needs.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the enterprise-wide onboarding strategy, including week-one orientation and extended onboarding programs, to ensure every new hire experiences a consistent, inspiring, and supportive journey.
  • Partner with People Ops, IT, Tech, and functional enablement teams to co-create onboarding resources, tools, and processes that simplify and enhance the employee experience.
  • Leverage human-centric design and feedback to continuously improve onboarding, measuring success against engagement, retention, and time-to-productivity outcomes.
  • Ensure onboarding programs integrate UKG culture, values, and business priorities while remaining scalable for global deployment.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing onboarding resources, learning journeys, and communities of practice to foster continuous integration and belonging.
  • Conduct needs assessments and partner with business leaders to identify onboarding gaps and future-state requirements.
  • Utilize multiple modalities-live sessions, digital platforms, tools, and on-demand resources-to create inclusive and engaging experiences.
  • Collaborate across the People Team to align onboarding with broader career development and leadership programs.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a team (direct or matrixed) responsible for delivering enterprise onboarding programs globally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in HR, Talent Development, or related fields, with proven success in designing and delivering large-scale onboarding or employee experience programs.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives in complex, global organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with IT, HR, and business leaders to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Strong program management and change leadership skills, with the ability to scale programs globally while addressing local needs.
  • Knowledge of onboarding technology, HRIS/HCM platforms, learning management systems, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

The pay range for this position is $159,900.00 to $229,800.00, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
