About the Role:

UKG is looking to hire a Director of Engineering to join our extremely talented Reporting and analytics Engineering. The Director of Engineering is responsible for the direct management of fast evolving product engineering teams, improvement in processes and service quality, strategic planning and management of resources. Plays a critical role in enhancing and enabling business capabilities through technology innovation and collaboration with the business, manage and execute a development roadmap and possesses a true passion for technology that is readily apparent in their past experience and/or personal projects as well as is an expert with the technologies being used by the team. Balance this with building relationships with their business product owners to execute the development roadmap.

Responsibilities:
• Experience in Analytics and reporting visualization
Drive innovation and manage product development teams within a fast paced, agile environment
• Cultivate an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
• Recruit IT professionals with business and industry experience, and develop, reward and energize a competent, effective team within the technology organization. Identify and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce.
• Manage and/or lead software development teams, obtaining necessary resources, acting as an escalation point and removing impediments to achieve goals and objectives
• Engage in hands-on design and ensure alignment of strategy, architecture, tools/methods with software engineers and architects to execute product roadmaps
• Collaborate with a wide variety to stakeholders within business and technology teams to drive change required to execute product roadmaps
• Enable integrated teams to deliver technology solutions in support of key product initiatives by working closely with product managers, technical project managers, architects, engineers, and quality assurance
• Collaborate within and across business units to prioritize, plan, and execute the development schedule for major product releases

Qualifications:
• Strategic Leadership & Vision:
o Proven experience in defining the quality & delivery for Business Intelligence solutions, aligning with customer needs and business objectives for SaaS products.
o Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements from UKG customers into scalable, actionable, and intuitive BI solutions (reports, dashboards, visualizations).
o Strong understanding of the BI landscape, including emerging trends, technologies, and best practices, with the ability to evaluate and recommend tools and architectural patterns.
• BI-Specific Technical & Execution Expertise:
o 12-15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 4+ years in a leadership role managing teams focused on Business Intelligence, data warehousing, or data analytics.
o Extensive hands-on experience leading the design, development, and deployment of complex, large-scale enterprise BI solutions, including data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and advanced data visualization.
o Deep understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles and experience implementing them within BI solutions.
o Experience with modern BI platforms and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, Sisense, or similar) and the underlying data architectures that support them.
o Proficiency with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and experience building BI applications on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
o Solid understanding of integrating internal or external enterprise systems via APIs, events, or other integration implementations to source data for BI purposes.
o Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in the context of deploying BI components or data pipelines.
• Team Leadership & Development:
o Proven experience attracting, hiring, mentoring, retaining, and leading high-performance teams of BI engineers and data professionals (i.e., FTEs, not contractors) in a fast-paced, dynamic product development environment.
o Ability to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the BI engineering team.
• Operational Excellence & Delivery:
o Experience driving agile development methodologies and best practices for BI development lifecycles, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
o Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex BI projects on time and within budget.
o Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers and executive leadership.

The pay range for this position is 159,900 to 229,800, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
