Talent Mobility Tax Manager

About the Team

Our Talent Mobility team's scope expands beyond relocation, immigration, and tax. We are responsible for talent movement, including talent programs to provide different experiences for our employees. This includes permanent moves, short-term projects (gigs), academy's and on the job training, and rotation programs to name a few.

About the Role

You will play a key role in strategizing compliance support on a global scale. You will draw on your tax expertise to provide mentorship for all aspects of talent mobility tax compliance for Uber. You will be part of the COE, working together with the Global Relocation Manager. This position will provide critical support and advice to the Global Talent Mobility team by acting as the primary contact on all cross border tax related questions and issues for Global Talent Mobility team members, and stakeholders; Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, HR, Finance, Payroll and all assignees and employees globally. The Global Tax Manager will also be responsible to manage the relationship with our external tax provider in order to achieve global consultative analysis and calculations in line with our policies and strategy while ensuring global tax compliance within our mobility program.

What You'll Do

• Partner with key leaders and their leadership teams to develop and execute both long-term and short-term Mobility roadmaps that directly support and enable the org's and the business' objectives
• Serve as technical mobility expert, leveraging expertise in the mobility compliance space
• Support global payroll and tax compliance process, reporting/sourcing and tax reporting & filing processes with outside tax vendor and Uber's global payroll teams
• Develop and implement Global and regional mobility programs, including assignment, transfer, gigs, extended and frequent business travelers
• Coordinate mobility due-diligence processes with internal partners (corporate tax, immigration, expense team, etc) and third party vendors (tax, relocation), including cost projection calculations, tax impact assessment and compliance requirements analysis
• Manage day-to-day relationships with external tax provider to ensure efficient execution and positive employee experience. Includes overseeing escalations, exceptions, vendor technology, policy and process improvements.
• Act as a process simplification champion who supports reducing complexity and partners with clients and key partners to maximize efficiency
• Develop and maintain the process documentation, including reviewing and updating the process as we see new changes.
• Manage the monthly payroll tax reporting. Ensure Relocation monthly report is being sent to the Payroll team & being reported.
• Ensure that policies and programs are aligned with business needs - partnering with Mobility Talent Business Partners to iterate and develop Mobility offerings
• Take ownership of high-impact projects that shape the future of Mobility at Uber

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in global mobility program management of a similar size and scale to Uber
• Technical knowledge of mobility tax, payroll, and equity considerations for globally mobile employees
• Strategic and consultative mentality with advanced interpersonal and project management skills
• Motivated self-starter, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing business needs
• Passionate about customer/client success with a track record to prove it
