Strategic Sourcing Manager

About the Role

Reporting into Uber's Global Strategic Sourcing organization, you will be responsible for developing a data driven sourcing strategy for multiple commodities and executing it including monitoring and maintaining it. This role will primarily focus on supporting the Workplace+Real Estate Team at Uber in the EMEA and APAC regions.

Given your experience as a sourcing professional with uncommonly strong negotiations skills you will drive substantial value targets while meeting stakeholders' needs. You should have command of sourcing and vetting new suppliers, commercial terms, redlining contracts, and supplier relationship management. This role requires extensive experience within multiple purchasing categories in the EMEA/APAC regions including but not limited to: capital construction (architects, general contractors), and food catering services.

What You'll Do

  • Managing the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.
  • Partner with the Global Strategic Sourcing team to align with the process by which the right new suppliers are found, rigorously vetted, contracted and on-boarded quickly.
  • Create, develop and maintain strong direct relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Develop and execute innovative strategies that drive cost reduction, continuous analysis of supplier performance, and overall business value.
  • Developing, implementing and managing robust market analysis / bench-marking processes; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the category strategy development process.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Share ownership and accountability for driving and delivering results through agreed upon strategies.
  • Ensure what you are working on is in alignment with your internal clients with respect to objectives (quality, design, timeline, sustainability...).
  • Accountable for driving communication and reporting to keep internal clients informed of progress and benefits.
  • Work with internal legal, risk, and compliance groups to ensure category strategies account for relevant laws and regulations.
  • Establish category metrics and savings targets, monitor performance, related reports and communicate these to stakeholders.

What You'll Need

  • BA/BS degree in business, supply chain management, or other related field. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) a plus.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience in strategic sourcing, finance, management consulting, or supply chain/procurement.
  • Prefer at least three 3 years of experience managing commodities in Workplace+Real Estate

Bonus Points If

  • Strong negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
  • Extensive knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms.
  • Strong experience assessing risk and concisely explaining complex issues to principal business owners.
  • Extremely customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business.
  • Experience working in a large, global, highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly synthesize, distill and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Passionate self-starter with the highest integrity and ethics.
